We came to Chicago to visit friends and our first stop was the Cozy Corner for breakfast. The food was excellent for everyone and I would definitely return for a future visit.

April 2, 1983. In a city known for meat packing & hog butchering, a brave pair of optimistic vegetarians opened a ground breaking meat free eatery called The Chicago Diner. Since then, co-owners Mickey Hornick & Jo Kaucher, have built a reputation for wow
I'm not a vegetarian, but the food here was excellent. Service was just a bit slow, but the place was jammed on a Friday night. It is currently the top restaurant in Chicago on Trip Advisor, but that is based on a relatively small number of reviews. I doubt very much that it is the absolute best in this huge city. But there ois no doubt in my mind that this small diner would be one of the top 5 or 10%.

I eat at Al's solo or with my family often. The service is familiar and easy and the food is yummy! I always crave the American Skillet. Who doesn't love corned beef hash?! Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name...
