Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Samos, of which it is a municipal unit. The population is 2,609 (2011 census) and the land area is 87.250 km². It shares the island of Samos with the municipal units of Vathy, Pythagoreio, and Karlovasi. It is the smallest of the four in both land area and population.

stayed in samos town end of may,searched for el greco after reading reviews,ate there about four times,good,tasty,homemade greek food,would thoroughly recommend the roast lamb and potatoes in oil paper,(greaseproof to us),its served in the paper and tied up like a parcel,the lamb melts in the mouth,also the greek meatballs are excellent. Had a chat with mathew the owner,very friendly guy,he infomed us he had opened a sister restaurant in pythagorian,planning to stay there in september,looking forward to sampling the cuisine there also,yasass for now

The restaurant is located in a great place, just next to the Psili Ammos II-beach. There is great views to the sea. I ordered chicken souvlaki, like I always do. The dish included chicken souvlaki, potatoes, tomatoes and breads with basilica (great idea). Chicken tasted absolutely delicious! Potatoes were OK, and bread with basilica tasted really nice! Everything in this food was just perfect! I really recommend it to everybody!

We were driving around the island and just happened to stop in Kerkis Bay around noon so we were looking for a place to eat.Just by luck we decided to try the hotel taverna.First thing is the menu is next to the entrance so you can review it before making a decision. The outside eating area is under multiple trees that kept it cool and comfortable. The breeze was quite refreshing coming off the bay.The lady who waited on our table was friendly and helpful.The food was so good. We ordered a variety of starters and filled up with those.The restrooms, across the street at the hotel, were clean and well maintained.Prices were consistent with the rest of the restaurants we had eaten at on Samos.This restaurant just hit the right spot for the day to make it a memorable experience.
