My fiance and I are visiting Wilmington and we have a tradition to eat at a diner everywhere we go. After spotting Dixie Grill we were excited to try it early the next morning for breakfast. Upon arrival, it was super busy which should've been a good sign. We gave the hostess our name and then awkwardly waited in the front near the doors since there was little to no waiting room. After standing for a while we finally got seated and were ready to dig in. The waiter we had is the only reason this review got these two stars. The service was good, our server was very nice, the food however was the problem. I ordered biscuits and gravy which came out cold and my fiance ordered pancakes which were really dry even when covered in butter and syrup. Needless to say, we weren't pleased with the food and the overall experience wasn't the best.

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch. It was very busy but the waitress attended to us immediately and our order arrived shortly after.Although not big on atmosphere it certainly makes up for awesome food. We both had the fish sandwich, with fries and coleslaw. the fries were cooked and crunchy and the slaw tasted fresh and homemade. The fish actually tasted like fish. It was great.The menu is full of seafood .

The food was dependably Waffle House fare...and the service was great. The folks are friendly and "on time"... each Waffle House is different with respect to the service and staff because they don't "clone" their servers. When we travel we often look for a waffle house.
