Was formerly the Bond Brook Pancake House, Mt Vernon Ave, Augusta, ME. Owners had an opportunity to move into a restored, historic building in the heart of the downtown business district. Even managed to preserve a stained-glass storefront-wide window adv
The setting is loaded with classic blue-collar New England History. Located right by the river and in a downtown setting, the parking is limited so look for the parking around back. The service is brisk, professional and somewhat indicative of Maine's surly stand-offish style but it is slightly warmed up here because it is clearly a place for regulars. The Corned Beef hash is seared nicely but bland, the toast is outstanding and so are the breakfast sandwiches which have a homey quality being made with sliced sausage links instead of patties. With all of the skill and experience they have, they should add a bloody Mary or Mimosa for the weekend and think about reaching outside the box with a shakshouka or scotch egg.

For a small town diner, they surely offer a variety of menu items: Korean BBQ sliders, soba noodles, and traditional American fare. They also had a pretty extensive beer and wine list. Food was very good and we will definitely come back when we are in the area again. Try the Maine Ginger Beer.

We discovered this restaurant years ago but only last summer did we discover their Seafood Chowder! Wow! This Chowder is wonderful! It's full of seafood only, not potatoes! There's only 4 types of fish in their Chowder: scallops, haddock, shrimp & lobster! And available in 2 sizes of bowls and accompanied with a yeast roll, if you order the larger size! This is a local restaurant that's been in the central Maine area for over 40 yrs & looks a lot like its original 50's / 60's decor!
