Service was so-so and food was the same. Husband said he makes better French toast at home. My eggs Benedict wasnât as good as Perkins and thereâs is just ok. Had find our waitress to get the check and she had forgotten us along with my husbands milk. She asked us what we wanted like we were annoying children. Just stopping through the area so maybe this was a one time bad meal.

Now that I'm retired, I have more opportunities to go out for breakfast and this is my first choice. Eggs Benedict is hard to find locally. Luckily the Eggs Benedict is excellent at Joe K's. I've been told that the rest of the breakfast offerings are good too, although I don't know that from personal experience! ;-}Every waitress we've had has been excellent too!
2 friends & went to dinner last Saturday to Sportsman Club. It was my first visit. We were attending the Alton Symphonic orchestra performance afterwards. We were seated quickly & received our drinks promptly. The Sportsman club used to be a members only club but is now open to the public also. Note ..there are 2 different prices for each entree but non member prices are only about $2.00 more. I ordered the chopped steak with mashed potatoes & gravy, & green beans. I thought it was all very good. There was a salad bar but I didn't get that. I had a taste of my friend's chicken livers & was really good also. It did take a little while to get our food but was worth the wait. I want to return & try something else. The bar was separate from the dining area. They begin serving dinner @ 5pm & it wasn't that busy but when we left about 90 minutes later they were . There was a wedding reception going on in another room but was separate from dining area. I was glad we checked out the Sportsman Club.

The building has housed decent restaurants for well over 50 years, but this morning was our first visit to Village Inn Pancake House. As we walked in the smell of stagnant grease was overwhelming and a customer was explaining to the cashier how she'd made a mistake and she wasn't understanding. We saw several employees walking past, but none acknowledged us. My husband finally asked a customer if we were to seat ourselves and she said yes. We picked up menus and found a table. The cashier came by and offered coffee and brought it within a few minutes. I looked around and saw several tables of people looking around for wait staff. It was relatively busy but it looked like there were four or five servers (it's a small place). After about ten minutes a server took our order. It was literally less than five minutes before our food arrived (the reason for one star). It was apparent that all but the eggs had been prepared in advance. The sausage patties, though tasty, were lukewarm and looked like burned golf balls. The hashbrowns were a little warmer, but not what we ordered (well done). The server said our toast was coming up, and even though we asked two more times during the meal, we were finished before it actually came (we were told someone else had taken our orders. Several times, I guess). We had to ask three different people for ketchup before we got it, also towards the end of the meal. We also had to ask for the check twice. The reason for the second star is the price. Each meal was on special for $2.99. We had to come home and change clothes because that horrible smell came with us. We will NEVER go back!

Stopped in here while simply trying to find something that wasn't a chain. Atmosphere was awesome....like I could see my granddad sitting next to me in the 1950s awesome. Prices were very reasonable. Food was solid, and had several 'hot plate' specials. Multiple generations were there. Glad I stopped in...I will again.
