We were on our way to see the Great Pumpkin Blaze and we were early so we were looking for a place to eat. The Colonial Diner was right on the way in.We were started fresh baked bread and butter on the table. This place had a great selection of home style food and it hard to decide . My wife had a Liver and Onion dinner with a tossed salad and Greek lemon soup and dessert included with the price of her meal. I had grilled corn beef Reuben sandwich that was literally stacked with cornbeef. My son is only 8 and stayed safe with a grilled cheese sandwich with fries. The restaurant had Plenty of staff, Service was quick and friendly and they had very reasonable prices. We have spent more going out for pizza. The three of us ate for under $45. None of us left hungry and we all agreed we would return the next time weâre in the area

I remember there was a Hogans many years ago near where the Palisades Mall is now. I heard it was great and then it moved. I never got around to going, but being new to the Haverstraw area, we decided to go in and give them a try. Not disappointed at all. Friendly service, clean, great food, and priced just where you would expect. My wife is a big bacon fan and made a few comments on how good this bacon was. My breakfast was great and the overall experience was 10/10. We'll be going back for sure.
I went for lunch and had the cheeseburger ( Hamburger on a toasted bun with the Swiss cheese melted on the bun) . It was a nice size beef patty with a good amount of steak fries a little coleslaw, pickle wedge and lettuce and tomato. It was delicious and cooked just right for my preference.
I usually have a problem with restaurants labelling their food homemade...because it's not, you're in a restaurant. But the Somers Diner is as close as it gets. You might find the menu is long and looks like a typical diner, but far from it! What they serve doesn't come prepacked or out of a can...the soups have chunks of meat. And the ingredients are always fresh, a big factor when it comes to the salads. Maria runs the place with the help of family, and always has a warm greeting for regulars and visitors alike. I may live far away from my Dad, but I don't worry about his eating because I know he can go down to the diner anytime to get a great meal and a friendly chat.

A group of four men, of which I was one, ate lunch during our lunch break yesterday at this diner in a strip mall across the street from the county courthouse. It was quite busy at lunchtime when we entered, but we were directed to a table right away. Each of us had a different diner speciality, including a sandwich, a wrap, or, in my case, meatloaf and mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy. My meatloaf consisted of a couple of slices of normal meatloaf deep fried to golden brown. It was good, but I could not keep myself from thinking about all the extra calories. I had never seen meatloaf prepared this way before and I had mixed feelings about it. The portions are adequate but not huge. Everyone seemed to like what they got, judging by the empty plates by the end of the meal. The bill was fair for what we ordered. Best was their chocolate pudding which was rich and creamy with a strong chocolate flavor. This place is fine for lunch, but understand that it is far from luxurious and the cuisine is rather basic.

Salads are good. Hamburgers not great. They came out too fast to be coked from scratch. I asked for medium but it came out well done. Food could be hotter. Easy to park, clean, lots of tables.
Took my grandchildren there and really enjoyed their good. We had pancakes, club sandwiches. And salads. Everyone was happy and the service was excellent. Prices were good and it is small but pleasant located in a small strip mall in an el. Shape. Plenty of parking here. And great for families. Fir a bunch of kids
