A rich 300-year history, a thriving arts community and seemingly endless wilderness make this New York capital city on the Hudson River a great weekend getaway. Outdoor enthusiasts come here to ski, hike, canoe and fish; trout and small-mouth bass fishing is among the best in the U.S. Mountains surround the city, and the tapestry of golds and reds on an autumn day is breathtaking. The city is dominated by an elaborate 10-building complex that includes the State Capitol; the New York State Museum, with life-like dioramas such as American Indian life and an Adirondack logging operation; and the oval-shaped Empire State Performing Arts Center, nicknamed "The Egg." History buffs will enjoy the colonial homes, historic churches and museums, and can tour 18th-century mansions, like the Schuyler, a superb example of pre-Revolutionary War architecture. Whether nature or history is your passion, you'll find an abundance of both in this upstate New York gem.

Great American Dining For Breakfast, Lunch Or Earlybird Dinner.
First time here, the place was packed. Well worth the wait. The Eggs Benedict were superb. The make your own omelet was perfectly prepared. Home fries were nicely done. Our server seemed a bit stretched having to answer the phone, take care of the counter area as well as our booth. Definitely will go back again.

I had the Matzo ball soup with Turkey dinner.Soup was good with a nice roll and lots of butter.Turkey was sliced Turkey, but good quality, nice gravey, plentiful, mashed potatoes and stuffingtasty but not from scratch I don't think. Served with a small bowl of mixed veggies. I enjoyed this dinner and like this restaurant. Not gourmet, but a great tasty, hearty meal.

My eggs were good but the grits had zero love in them. My husband liked his potatoes and omelet. The coffee is a little on the weak side. Service was great. I didnât love the music they played, but thatâs not huge. Itâs a very old diner and has been around forever. I was thinking theyâd play 50âs or 60âs music instead of the rap they were playing.

I visited at 10:30 a.m. on a week day when the diner was very quiet, but the service was still not great. I had to ask 3 times for extra napkins, and when I had finished my food but not my drink, I came back from the men's room to discover that my entire seating had been cleared. The food itself was very mediocre - they did not even have sliced cheddar cheese for a turkey sandwich, as they apparently only have shredded cheddar. The sandwich itself had about 2 to 3 slices of turkey, which is inadequate. Also, there was a very large insect crawling up the interior window of the diner in plain view of diners. I think that it was something harmless like a praying mantis, but staring at a large and unsightly bug was not exactly appetizing. I would definitely skip this restaurant when in Albany.

Traditional American Diner serving Breakfast and Lunch only, six days a week. Daily specials, homemade soups, in-house roasted Turkey and Roast Beef, quality/ fresh ingredients used and all meals made to Oder.
This diner is a blast from the past. It's small inside; just like diner cars were/are. There is outdoor seating in good weather. Seating is in booths with a couple of chairs. Plenty of parking and a gas station/convenience store next door for travelers. Service is quick and the food is good - many local patrons. Prices are good. If you are into diners, this is a definite stop.
