Came here on a Sat around 4 pm. Not busy. Lots of great looking dishes presented as you enter into dining area. Smell of chicken soup greets you at the door. Went to celebrate our sons Fordham graduation, the four of us hadn't eaten all day and wanted to eat everything in sight. Waiter delivered pickles and coleslaw upon seating. Hubby and I both ordered soup, yummy. We also tried potato pancakes, and other items I can't rename, but were very good. Son had brisket sandwich, his gf had a chicken liver sandwich. Everyone ate every bite, so good, and hit the spot for a rainy cool day in May. Would love to go back.

Fifty years ago, there were literally hundreds of kosher delis in the Bronx (and the other boroughs as well). Nowadays, they're an endangered species; but Epstein's carries the flag well. Walking in is really like stepping back in time (just in case that cliche hasn't been used enough yet); everything is pretty much unchanged from the fifties and sixties. Service is fast and courteous. Prices are quite reasonable compared to many of the other surviving kosher delis; portions might not be quite as generous, but still more than enough food. Eat! It'll make you feel better!

Visited this charming neighborhood cafe on a hot Sunday afternoon in August -- literally seconds off the Henry Hudson Parkway, in the Bronx -- and caught some of the very best Irish traditional music anywhere, anytime: world-class button accordionist John Redmond and terrific guitarist Matt Diaz and flutist (whose name I didn't catch, sorry!) just killing it. Even if you're not familiar with this music, its energy is undeniable. Incredible to have this treasure and these superstars right here, for the price of a Guinness or cup of tea. The ambiance is relaxed: books, posters, other no-frills but high-humor/history decor. Waitstaff friendly and welcoming, and the cafe fills with appreciative regulars of all ages, from infants to very senior. A great vibe. Bravo -- and thanks -- to the management for contributing so generously to the culture scene in New York.Thank you. That flute player was Sean Tierney of the world famous trad group Girsa . John Redmond indeed does bring the best Irish Trad musicians here each Sunday . We are one of the few venues left that encourage original music and world music .
