First let me clarify something. I know what it says above, right next to "#8 of 69 restaurants in Wheeling." It says "American, Deli, Kosher." It is for sure American and Deli. It is not kosher. You would have figured that out as soon as you read the menu: "bone ham $2.79". or "grilled salami & Swiss $10.25". And so on. But I wanted you to know right in front, so that you don't make the trip for nothing. Kosher style, yes. Kosher, no.ok, moving right along....Bagel Tuesday -- a dozen bagels for $6.25. Call first and have them set aside your favourite flavours -- they sell out quickly at these prices. They carry salt, jalapeno, all-season, flax seed, french onion, garlic, whole wheat, cinnamon raisin, parmesan, cheddar, plain, poppy seed, onion, egg, pumpernickel rye and sesame seed. These are substantial, chewy bagels....not those sissy bagels.Ten tables inside and ten tables outside under bright Vienna Beef umbrellas.Full adult menu -- breakfast, deli sandwiches, salads, soups, ect. -- and a seven-item kids' menu.Parking lot

Homemade bagels baked fresh EVERY morning - lox flown in from NY - generous portions of great food in a good old fashioned NY deli setting. The meats are cooked in house and you can taste the quality!

We stopped at the Original Bagel & Bialy restaurant which is located at The Grove Shopping Center which is the northeast corner of McHenry Rd. & Lake Cook Rd. There is plenty of parking in the lot with very easy access. When we walked in, the Original Bagel & Bialy was really busy. Rather than wait, this time we picked up a half dozen of different bagels with some cream cheese and we were off. The bagels were quite good and very fresh. The price was reasonable. Had lunch here on a Weds. at 1 pm. Not crowded. They have typical subs and many "special" sub and sandwich options. They also have multiple breads, and flat-breads. Both of our special sandwiches were really good. Shakes are very good too. Staff very friendly, only negative was the place was smokey from something burning in the oven.

Family of twelve was overfed in traditional fashion with huge portions of tasty food. We came for lunch but breakfast was still served and half chose those options. Mexican eggs over potatoes were tasty as was the corned beef hash..... French toast also enjoyed as were the pancakes and apple pancakes. I had the turkey club and the turkey was excellent! The bacon reheated, lettuce and tomato ok but almost no mayo and the toast was partially burnt..... shouldâve sent it back but I didnât want to upset my host and also eat after everyone else was done..... very disappointing. Pastrami sandwich and kreplach soup were enjoyed the most and no leftovers there. All the meals were missing âsomethingâ..... unless huge portions are their only cache..... Mannyâs in Chicago is my gold standard and this was fairly close! If I couldnât get into the city and needed a deli fix, Iâd be happy here......

We've eaten at this well managed eatery at least a dozen times, and it's been consistently excellent. Steaks and fish are both carefully prepared, and although the service may not be Michelin perfect, it's friendly and consistently efficient. The trick here is to go early if you can or to prepare to stop at the bar for a libation before going to your table. Parking is a problem - the place is so popular, you'll have a tussle finding a spot to stow your car.
