Fiore Deli of Hoboken

You have to wait 30 minutes to get your lunch sandwich but it's well worth it. Come before 11am or after 4pm if you want to purchase anything other than sandwiches. They have lots of italian packaged goods : pasta, panetone, pesto but none of these are fresh - they are shelf items. They also have mixed olives, marinades artichokes, red peppers and a few cold cuts.

Murray's Cheese

Why does unhealthy food taste sooooooo good? At the recommendation of my daughter (who sent me a video of the cheeses used in the toastie - or "melt" as they refer to it here), I wandered off to Bleeker street. The whole area was buzzing and Murray's was full with a good healthy vibe of music and conversation. I sat at the bar counter and was able to admire the cheese cabinet in front of me. The menu looked good but I was here for one thing only - their cheese melt. It was accompanied by a very tasty smoked creamy tomato soup and cheese stick, but the cheese toastie was everything it was meant to be. The cheese oozed out and the toast was crisp and slathered in butter - that's why it was so good. One could get this melt as a take away (and a 1/3rd of the cost) from the cheese shop next door but they only offer it until 4pm. This was one cheese toastie to travel for ... but my arteries and waist line will certainly regret it!!
