Sheffield is a city in Colbert County, Alabama, United States, and is included in the Shoals metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 9,039. Sheffield is the birthplace of "country-soul pioneer" and songwriter Arthur Alexander, French horn player Willie Ruff, notable attorney, actor, former senator and presidential contender Fred Thompson, Watergate committee U.S. Senator Howell Heflin and U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, whose father was working in nearby Athens when he was born. It is also home to the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio where many popular 20th century musicians recorded their work, including Alexander and Ruff. It is the site of historic Helen Keller Hospital, formerly known as Colbert County Hospital and originally constructed in 1921. It was changed to Helen Keller Hospital in 1979, and Keller's birthplace Ivy Green is located less than one mile southwest of the hospital in adjacent Tuscumbia.

This seems to be a regional chain (we don't have it in Memphis) and serves a nice variety of sandwiches/panini's, salads, soups, and even potatoes. They seem to have a rotating menu of soups depending on the day of the week... they have a Pick Two which gives you the option of trying different menu items in one combo. If you have ever been to Memphis and eaten at a chain called McAlister's then you will be very familiar with the menu and food type options. Our meals both included a 1/2 sandwich along with soup. The Crawfish bisque was something I could have eaten bowls and bowls of. It might seem like a small thing but the pickle spears served with the sandwiches were cold and very crisp... very nice! Oh... even though we did not have any the "sweets" as they called them all have a very tempting description and appeal.

We chose to have an early lunch (11:00) today before the lunch rush!Today we each had the "plate lunch" which was chicken & wild rice with the red, white, & blue salad (greens with strawberries, blue cheese, & blueberries) with a tomato dressing. Everything was great . . . we "cleaned our plates,"
Have I been to Italy......? NO........ Have I been to New York's Little Italy?...... YES.......... HOWEVER........ Subway's Italian BMT on Parmesan Oregano is one of the most taste-bud pleasing foods offered by a chain restaurant. Have it with the Provolone cheese and do NOT forget the greens. Can't say NO to this. Try it!!
