Reviews on Deli food in San Giovanni d'Asso, Montalcino, Province of Siena. About a 25-mile drive southeast of Siena in the rolling hills of Tuscany’s Crete Senesi region, San Giovanni d'Asso is home to just a few hundred people. The highlight is the 12th-century castle, which now houses town offices. Directly opposite the castle is Villa San Giovanni, complete with a hanging garden, which is rentable by the week. The town is home to two lovely old churches, San Giovanni Battista and San Pietro in Villore. Every November, San Giovanni d'Asso holds a Truffle Festival.

We were lucky enough to eat here for four nights while staying at the Villa, the food is absolutely stunning and the service (from Laura) is incredibly attentive. Still daydreaming about the Pappa al Pomodoro and the Fiorentina Steak :)

We came here with family because this place offered a really generous sample of several cheeses. I believe we tried 7 options ranging from young pecorino to aged 20 months. Slices were really large, and we ended up trying out their cured meats too. When it came to service, the young man behind the counter was super knowledgable and gave us some excellent recommendations. We bought several items to bring home including a wheel of pecorino, some salami and some nice truffle infused honey.Pienza was absolutely lovely, and this place made it all the more memorable. Definitely recommend!

I have visited this store on many occasions and always enjoy shopping there. It is an absolutely fantastic store to buy specialty items...or to just sit down and have a glass of wine, spritz or assorted meats and cheeses. It is a family-run store and all are very hospitable and helpful. This bottega is a specialty store, not a discount store. The products they sell are the finest available specialty products of Tuscany...whether from dried pasta's to all manner of sauces, meats to cheeses, oils, wines and candies. It is a great store to browse in, buy gifts for friends back home, or just sit either inside or out and have a glass of wine or a spritz.....to wash down the delicious cheese and prosciutto platter they can make you!!If you visit San Quirico d'Orcia, I highly suggest a stop at this wonderful store!!
