FARM Il Castagneto C.Da Pantagnone 84034 Padula SA "A journey in taste, in the landscape and in culture of ancient Vallo di Diano". In the typical landscape of the ancient centre of Padula Vallo di Diano, surrounded by picturesque hills and vast countrysi
After an enthusiastic visit to the Certosa we stopped over for lunch in this country guesthouse with annexed restaurant. The area is full of green and especially nice and safe for young kids. The restaurant was full ( it was Sunday) and we had to wait quite long before being served. The choice is not so wide, but food was good and prices were low ( around 20⬠).

One of the best meals during my recent visit to the region. Friendly and attentive service and genuine cooking. Delicious antipasto of fried eggplant "meatballs". Excellent homemade pappardelle pasta with basil, pine nuts and herbs. Fantastic homemade pasta with sausage ragu'. Homemade liquors rounded out a highly recommended meal. Located off of a main road, don't be put off by the location. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced.

This is a fantastic, beautifully appointed, comfortable restaurant, for dinner, or just drinks and tapas. When you first enter you are transported to another time and another place, varied, comfortable seating arrangements create unique spaces for you to choose from. It seems to be put together by an artist or designer. If this restaurant were in New York, Paris or London, which is where you would expect to find it, it would cost a fortune, but amazingly it can only be found in Sala Consilina. So for less than 20Euro you can sip great wine, enjoy uniquely prepared Italian tapas, and savor a plate of veal or chicken or lasagna prepared in this restaurants special way. The service is warm, friendly and attentive, as is consistent with all the people you will meet in Sala Consilina. There was just the right balance of attending to your needs, and leaving you to enjoy the fine food and drinks. A few things about my visit. As someone from America I was there early by Italian standards (about 7:30) on a Friday night, and off season, so there were no crowds. I don't know but I would imagine as wonderful as this place is, later at night in high season there might be some crowds. I speak very little Italian, and although the English is not generally spoke in Sala Consilina, they were very happy to work through my language shortfalls. Finally, I mentioned that you would expect to find a place like this in one of the major cities, but you could not, as if it were in NYC it would be sold out every night and hectic. But La Petite Maison is an Oasis of peace. If your visiting any of the area, this is a place worth driving to, for the experience. It is just next to the church of Michael Angelo, a historic site, and a great place to start a hike to You can hike up to the Castello Normanno from which you can have a breathtaking view of the valley. La Petite Maison is also next to the Piazza Umberto, where you can read the monument of the most famous person from Sala Consilina (other than the housewives of NJ Teresa & Joe Guidice) The Trumpeter, Giovanni Martino, who was in General Custar's 7th Calvary and was the only person to see Custar alive and live to tell about it, as he was sent off to deliver a message just before the battle of little bighorn.
