So much more satisfying than a franchise, this is homey, with good service, helpful tattooed staff.... Great variety of chairs, and signs....but without the creepy dirty quality that often makes such ancient places objectionable. Good fresh food, and I really like the California Bird (turkey) on Squaw bread! It's worth going into the little old original town of Fair Oaks, seeing the tiny shops, and wild chickens on the streets, and this place for coffee (or chai) and a turkey sandwich (and they have others as well).

Stopped here on our way home from Tahoe. Had vanilla shaved snow with fresh strawberries and condensed milk. It was light and delicious! I had never had shaved snow before and was pleasantly surprised. I will go back when in the area again.

Subway is my 'go to' place for a quick lunch. This particular location is the best atmosphere of any I have been at...very open, bright (corner store with windows on two sides), and kept clean. The owners are friendly, know their many repeat customers by name and sandwich.

This place is formally Ike's Deli. However they have improved on a great menu and now offer salads and custom salads. Unfortunately, I will not ever partake in these because once you have devoured their homemade pocket bread (which is available to purchase on it's own) you won't have any desire to eat anything other than some deliciousness stuffed in the famous pocket.My wife has always favored the roast beef. The pocket comes stuffed with sliced beef and onions and tomatoes and a vinaigrette dressing with herbs. However, I have friends who love the hot pastrami and the tuna salad. Yesterday, I enjoyed the Italian Cold Cuts and my wife had her usual roast beef. They were awesome! Attached is a pic. I am thrilled to say that Monday through Thursday they are open until 7 p.m. Since the business in in an industrial area it is not open on the weekend. If you are in Rancho or even if you are not and want to try a unique sandwich, please visit this place. I want them to stay in business a long time!
