Last time I had tapas this good I was in Spain. I don't know of a place in Melbourne to match here....maybe True South in Black Rock. There is something on the menu for all tastes. We shared sardines, croquettes, meatballs, calamari and whitebait...all excellentquality.. The Verdelho wine that we chose was a great match with the food. Will call again when I next visit Ballarat.

Olive Grove Delicatessen

The Olive Grove in Ballarat is a great place for a quick, fresh and tasty meal with friends. With all the Deli's fresh produce on display, it is hard not to just keep on eating.Staff are attentive and service is quite quick even when the deli is full of patrons. Salmon with spinach and fennel quiche was an absolute delight.(one of the daily specials) It looked and smelled so great that I started munching into it before I remembered to take a photo, hence the slightly irregular quiche shape. The salad was just so crisp and fresh, with a lovely tangy dressing and Feta cheese.Coffee is always spot on at Olive Grove. As a Delicatessen/Cafe it is fun and fresh. A little on the noisy side when full, but still able to carry on a conversation. No doubt we will be back here again soon.

Hydrant Food Hall

...my breakfast was incredibly average. The coffee was nice, there is a play area for the kids and the menu is really appealing. I had the eggs benedict, which is a waffle, pulled pork, poached eggs and some pork crackle. It looks and sounds amazing, but the reality is it is just a plate full of flavourless mush. It's all the same consistency, there is no flavour to any of it.I ate most of it because I was hungry, but there was nothing enjoyable about it. It wasn't horrible, it wasn't tasty, it was just mushy food with no flavour. The kids rainbow pancakes were pretty cool though, and the staff and service were good. I mean I'd go back there, I just would never buy that particular dish again. I'm still amazed at how little flavour someone can get into a dish.
