We were visiting the nearby Kronborg Castle and decided to walk through Helsingoer as it was so close. It was a wet and cold day so we ducked into this cozy little cafe to warm up and have a snack. We had only been in Denmark for a few hours and we were warmly welcomed by the very friendly staff who spoke English very well.At first we were just going to have something warm to drink - my girlfriend had a tea and I had a marvellous hot chocolate - but the food smelled so nice coming from the kitchen - so we ordered some french fries. We got a heaping portion served up with ketchup and mayonnaise and they were nicely spiced too!It was a very relaxing atmosphere and we sat and watched people out on the street in the nice pedestrian area that is loaded with nice shops and restaurants. It was a great place to experience our first meal in Denmark and we both highly recommend it.

Cafe Olai is the most hyggeligt place I've been in Denmark. I travel to Denmark twice a year, often for weeks at a time. The Danes understand warm, communal feeling, and this place epitomizes it. The soft lighting, friendly service, blankets on the chairs, and Danish comfort food all combine to make Cafe Olai a wonderful place to have dinner. Friends of mine from Helsingør tell me that when they were kids they used to show up there and be offered free ice cream.

Absolute in love with this place, fantastic located directly on the shore, between the narrow strait between Denmark and Sweden. Spectacular view over the strait and to the beatufully middle agede castle Kronborg. Normally then I'm in Denmark I stay at the hotel, nice old style buildings but very well maintained hotel, with everything you need, at the hotel you can also find indoor heated pool, professional casino. Good international Resturant with very good menu card, and a very good wine card ! Love the 1861 Brasserie, every Sunday outstanding buffet - enjoy this and the fantastic view. Polite and international speaking staff, free wifi. Properly not the cheapest place in Helsingor, but on the other hand, your are in Denmark, so everything is expensive.

Stumbled upon this restaurant by accident. We had a great meal, which included fish&chips, moules marinees and poke bowl. The menu changes depending on the catch of the day. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Nice staff and lovely interior.Thank you so much for taking the time to review our restaurant.Hope to see you again.

Excellent meat and a cozy atmosphere. But the sauces were weak in taste and thin, almost like it was store bought. The baked potatoe was weak in taste and the salad bar was consisted of a lot of canned (or similar) food.

Make sure to be here quite early for lunch, to get the best choice of real Danish smörrebröd. They are very tasty! If the weather is nice, sit outside in the small and cosy garden. Friendly staff. Very relaxed and nice atmosphere. Recommend to take a stroll through the old streets and look at the wonderful houses (just off the main shopping streets) before or after your lunch.
