Things to do in Melnik

11 persons for dinner. Quick and nice service in english. Very limited menu and only one dessert available. The food was very boring and absoluttely tasteless. The price was high compared to other Melnik restaurants, but the view is fantastic. Wont go there again.

We stopped at this restaurant for a quick lunch while visiting Melnik, the service was prompt and pleasant, not too many choices for a vegetarian - but that's a problem in most Czech restaurants. I chose a soup and my relative a stirfry entree, with fried potato balls, she said they were soggy. The big plus is a nice location on the main square near the information center and the fountain.

We found this place by luck after walking around the town centre. Nice relaxed courtyard setting. The food was very good and served quickly. The young waitress, although more concerned with her young husband, was actually very friendly and helpful when we spoke to her. Overall,a very nice experience.

The largest and traditional czech-italian style restaurant of Melnik city. It's less than 1km from old town and Lobkowicz castle. We mainly cook delicious Czech and Italian cuisine, with some Mexican dishes. Also we have traditional Czech beer brand Pilsn
We had pizza both of us. The waitress let us know that her English was not so good but she did an excellent job anyway. The food was good.
Melnik Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Melnik
This place is very quaint with old nicknacks, bikes etc hanging from ceilings. They've tried hard. We really felt we'd discovered something good and were impressed with the comments in guide books etc. However we felt slightly taken advantage. The place is clearly aimed at tourists and is over-priced both for food and drink. For the price, I didn't think the food was that great. Next time we ate in a chinese restaurant in the main street (upstairs in office-type building). Decor was awful (authentic Chinese really) but the food was actually very good and reasonably priced. Never thought I'd eat chinese in Czech. On reflection I'd say Melnik is an expensive tourist town so don't expect value for money here. Would not return to Melnik in fact. If you're looking for a day trip from Prague look elsewhere - further downriver, Litomerice is more understated, friendlier and more authentically rural Czech.

Visited during a bike trip with friends, so we were quite hungry. Found this awesome place with traditional decor (lots of old stuff hanging on the walls and ceiling) and we had a hearty meal. The lady host was very welcoming and we left the place with a big smile. Look no further for a great dinner in this charming village. No credit cards.

This restaurant is in the main square and there are tables outside in the sun. The food is typically Czech with various salads for those who are looking for a light lunch. A nice spot for people watching, whether you are eating or just having a drink.

It was the worst food we've ever eaten in the Czech Republic. That's saying something because we live here. Our friends took us here for Sunday lunch. They are regulars here and raved about the place so we were excited and hungry. Everything was disappointing. Our hosts were mortified. We let the owner/chef choose everything we ate. The starter was a sloppy, tasteless mess. It was supposedly pate wrapped in bacon, some pesto from a jar topped something and goat cheese topped with fruit compote. No one could eat it after the first taste. Then I had the wild boar in a rosehip sauce as recommended. It was hard and warmed over and the sauce was super sweet. The potato pancakes were greasy and ice cold. I complained, they took it back and brought the exact same cold, hard meat covered in sickly sweet sauce with cold potato pancakes. My husband had the same experience. Our companions had soup and fish filet. Nothing special and they told the owner. The chef seemed to have had a few too many apricot schnapps. He offered us a schnapps, but truly nothing could save our lunch. Not sure we will return despite all the glowing reviews here. A major disappointment.
