Yarm is a small town in North Yorkshire, England. The town is on the south bank of the River Tees and is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal flow up the River Tees until the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Barrage, which now regulates river flow above Stockton. As the last bridge on the river before the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened in Stockton in 1771. The oldest part of the town, around the High Street, is situated in a loop of the river, and the newer parts of the town extend to the point where the River Leven meets the River Tees.

This is the downstairs bar restaurant as opposed to Tomahawk , the steak restaurant upstairs. The Lotus Lounge is once again called âHideâ so a reincarnation of a previously good eatery. On this occasion the place did not really live up to its previous reputation. A popular bar which gets very noisy later on as the average age drops! The food is unsensational akin to Wetherspoons but not better. Not a place to celebrate a special personal event but probably okay for large work groups of younger adults

The hotel is attractive and nicely furnished. The restaurant is an odd mixture between two rooms, which may be why service can be slow. Breakfast was sad. The coffee was not great. The bagel was not eaten and the poached eggs with boring bread left much to be desired.

My partner and I visited here after some research as we wanted to try somewhere different. The food was nice but it's just standard pub grub. The website made the restaurant out to be fine dining. The soup was scalding and I burnt my mouth but it was tasty. My partner ordered a Shiraz and a goats tart for starters. Neither were available so he had to have an alternative. We had the rib eye steak which was nice but nothing outstanding. The base of the dessert my partner had was rock hard and he couldn't eat it in the end. I had the rustic apple crumble which was more sultanas than apple and had far too much cinnamon in it. The dining room was cold and lacked atmosphere. We used a gourmet card so our bill was roughly £40 (2 for 1). I certainly would not have paid £80 for the meal. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for you which is lovely.
