This restaurant has several theme evenings a year and I recently attended the white truffle evening. The 7 course set menu was absolutely exquisite and included wine paring for CHF169 per person. The only catch is that you still had to buy your truffle for the evening at CHF5.50 per gram. Ouch. Very splashy dinner, but it was finger-licking good. And, as always, the service was phenomenal!

A mere five-minute walk from Arth-Goldau train station, Gotthard is the perfect location to enjoy a delicious meal in nice surroundings. I had dinner in the veranda ââWintergardenââ which boasts a cozy and relaxed atmosphere.A huge thumbs-up to the staff for the smiling, attentive and efficient service during the whole dinner. As I visited mid-November the menu still included several venison dishes. As starter I chose the homemade venison terrine, which proved very tasty. The main course was "Rehschnitzel Mirza" - a venison schnitzel in a rich creamy sauce, served with all the trimmings: red cabbage, chestnut, Brussels sprouts, spätzli. Once again tasty and (very) generous portion. No room left for a big dessert, therefore I only had the homemade apricot sorbet - refreshing and very flavourful. As accompanying red wine I chose the expensive Amarone della Valpolicella. Gotthard serves it from a five-liter bottle: definitely a must-see!Swiss price level is unfortunately very expensive and Gotthard is no exception. The bill amounted to CHF113 - admittedly quite high, however the good food and excellent service are well worth it.

Hotel & Restaurant, old tradition in nice atmosphere. Reopened in 2011 after 2 years renovation work. Authentic Swiss food with seasonal products from the region and friendly staff with the real Swiss hospitality.Centrally located in the village, convenie
Great spot for lunch on a wet day. The decor is understated but elegant. Staff are very helpful & attentive & were fabulous in explaining the menu choices in English. We chose from the daily specials menu which included a soup & salad stater & also included a dessert. My spouse chose the NZ fish accompanied with flat noodles & vegetables, whilst I settled on the Veal shoulder with mashed potato crescents & vegetables. We accompanied our meal with a carafe of Pinot noir & a carafe of water was also brought to the table. Soups & salads were brought out quickly & both flavoursome. The main courses were exceptional, both in presentation, flavour & speed of delivery. The fish dish ordered by my spouse looked wonderful on the plate & he confirmed that it tasted as good as it looked. A swirl of noodles accompanied by a large piece of nicely cooked NZ fish with a mustard sauce & a selection of vegetables on the side. Looked good to me too! My veal shoulder included 3 large tender slices with a rich flavoursome gravy & was accompanied by 3 crescent shaped slices of mashed potato & a similar selection of vegetables on the side. This went superbly with our Pinot Noir! Dessert came after a suitable interval & included some plums & fruits underneath a gelato like ice cream which was gorgeously served in a modern setting. Coffee was offered but not ordered. The restaurant setting was pleasant.....quiet but not hushed & there is a nice outdoor courtyard area which would be lovely for lunch on a fine day. Overall, a very enjoyable experience & would be happy to return.
