Dining out well, to me, is dressing up for it with anticipation and traveling in good company, being taken care of by attentive servers who know just how good the food is, and, most of all, finding the Food Nirvana we all seek. Unsurprisingly, Mision 19 is on the other side of the wall, and I canât imagine not crossing over from San Diego to taste everything this place has to offer. More evidence Mexico is the side you want to be onâ¦My partner & I dined there during our visit to Tijuana this week. At the rave recommendation of Miguel, our host at the Air BnB we stayed in Colonia Federal just above his iconic art bar (with excellent food surrounding the fire pit): Cereus Bar (google them for Life & Food blog review).Mision 19 was more money than we often spend dining out - although by US standards, quite moderate. (We are expats who live in Mexico). Itâs more than worth every extra peso - from bread to postres. Our dinner included two (all shared) apps, the parfait of Blue-Fin tuna & an iceberg salad, then an organic milk roasted chicken, & two perfect desserts (just everything looked delicious, and they do serve a tasting menu), plus two glasses of a lovely Sauvignon Blanc: $61usd, including 20% tip.My partner is a chef who understands food better than anyone I personally know â and like the rest of us, Iâm a foodie. We eat out a lot, with excellent restaurants in San Miguel de Allende, where we live. But hereâs the thing: This was simply the best meal weâve had in a very long time. Just the best, every mouthful. Buena comida, Buena Vida - Buen Provecho mis amigos.

Had not been into this "top restaurant" in years. Wanted to celebrate Valentines day here. Made reservations, brought a very nice wine bottle. There were about seven waiters and about six tables with people. Every time you had to call the waiter to: uncork the bottle, ask for menus, ask for water, to take your order, to order desert, for the check, etc. Of course you had to serve your own wine. The place is suppose to be top notch; the price sure are.Food was good. The best was the duck burritos with prune sauce.I do not recommend going there; for the food and the price there are many other excellent restaurants in Tijuana.
