The iconic winelands restaurant, great views of the local Helderberg and a firm favourite amongst the Stellenbosch locals for the past 15 years and still wowing the faithful. A firm reputation for outstanding, friendly service, great food, wonderful steaks
We have always rated the steaks among the best we have had in our area however this time we were very underwhelmed and left feeling disappointed. We went on a Wikideal and one sometimes wonders whether this is the reason why the experience and quality may not be the same? The steaks were dry and only saved by the additional garlic/chilli butter that we ordered. The dessert platter to share needs a revamp. We have been getting the same selection - which is far too sweet - for too long. The only one that should remain is the creme brulee but maybe offer some freshness or sometime different to the standard brownie and overly sweet baked pudding ! The overall service and experience was very mediocre.

I went to D'vine about a month and a half ago. The location was quite secluded and the restaurant itself was quite quiet with not too many guests. Their loss. The restaurant is well decorated with great attentive waiters, the food was very well prepared and the atmosphere was great. The food took around 50 minutes but was well worth the wait. I would recommend this restaurant as a place to take someone on a date or possibly with a large group of people and I will be returning at some stage to have a second take on D'vine.

Lovely buffet with lots of choice. Able to sit outside on the verandah as the weather was beautiful. Nice music being played outside which helped with the lovely ambience. Good service from the waiters. All in all a lovely afternoon spent relaxing with friends whilst enjoying good food and wine. What more could you ask for!!!Thank you very much for your feedback, after your recent lunch at Erinvale.I am delighted to hear that you have enjoyed our wonderful buffet offerings, as well as the music and atmosphere of our Terrace Restaurant. In November 2007 Overture Restaurant, situated on Hidden Valley Wines - a wine farm anchored into the side of the Stellenbosch hills - opened its doors for the very first time. Starting from humble beginnings, Overture soon became a destination for great
Monday lunchtime dining meant our family group had this spacious open plan restaurant virtually to ourselves. It might have lacked some atmosphere but that was more than made up for by the glorious views, delightful food, and attentive smiling service. They offer a daily changing seasonal set menu. Two or three choices of dish on the starters, mains and desserts. The team of young chefs beavering away in the open kitchen was a sight to behold.Quality local ingredients, responsibly sourced combined to make it an interesting, innovative and highly recommended dining experience. Our groups only slight criticism of anything would be on the quality of some (but not all) of the wine pairings. Will definitely return.

George Jardine's contemporary, relaxed Somerset West Restaurant, headed up by Brendan Thorncroft.
We had a delicious dinner at Seven last night, enjoying the 3-course winter special menu. I had a salad starter (simple, very good), and the sirloin (sitting on a delicious Bearnaise sauce, with kale on top and small onions) which was done perfectly and just delicious. My husband had the stuffed mussels starter (yum) followed by a very creative fish dish ("silvers") done in an Indian-Asian style with a wonderful sauce. We both had the (incredible) Grand Marnier souffle with hot orange glaze and ice cream for dessert....we should have shared one, but they were so good, we ate every bit. And the winter special is 3 courses, after all! Service was friendly and professional, and we brought a favorite bottle of wine and were happy to pay the corkage fee for it. The restaurant was sadly almost completely EMPTY on a Thursday evening, which makes me wonder if people haven't yet discovered this little gem in SSW...it's our 3rd visit in the last year, and we will go back. The winter special is very good value, and the cooking (and pretty plating) is top class. Everyone should go. We need to support this local place, and make sure they stick around. Thanks, Seven!

We all have chosen the tasting menu , 8 courses and another four amuses. i will not elaborate about the different courses as they change it regularly. But the way it was served and the quality of all of them was perfect. When you are in the region do not forget to go here.

We booked a table for lunch, due to the cool weather we sat inside and could'nt really enjoy the view.We all found the waiter, David, strange. No interaction on such a vast menu. When my husband ordered 2 starters as his main meal,he quite obnoxiously said " both at the same time? " We were one of 3 tables so he had all the time in the world to try and interact with us.Our meals were OK, I had kingklip with artichokes served on a saffron veloute. The tinned artichokes were placed on top of the kingklip with no infusion of flavour. Generally a bland meal. The vegetable roulade was described as, not fresh. The thai mussel starter was good and the lambs kidneys with gnocci was delicious. There was no management on the floor to communicate with, the ambiance quite dull.with so much competition in the area, I would not return.

The setting is beautiful, if you have a young extended the youngsters can explore and play on the grounds, seems pet friendly. The service is professional and charming, the food was exquisite and the wine crisp and cooled.A stroll around the farm after lunch had many interesting surprises. Strongly recommended. We appreciate the review and your description of the added extra's one can experience when dining at the Camphors Restaurant. Unfortunately we are not pet friendly as we have a host of natural fauna that we need to nuture. Kind regardsSharon Hosking
