Filled with locals for breakfast, it is obviously very popular. but we felt totally ripped off.It was the most expensive breakfast we have had and we left hungry They have indoor and outdoor seating and tables are packed close together. You can't but overhear your neighbors conversationsIf you don't want their combination plates everything is al a carte I ordered fried eggs and that is what I got, two eggs on a large plate with no garnish or toast. Toast as was everything else was extra. My husband did order rye toast and got a single piece cut in half. The hot baked grapefruit was good but for some reason instead of bringing it first was served with the eggs.Breakfast for two was over $50 and definitely not worth it.

It's been one of my favourites for years and the old traditional dishes and favourites are still being served. Enjoyed my cantonese style duck with plum sauce but food has moved on and for sheer excitement and innovation, would now prefer Dialogue. The service is still excellent and very attentive.

New restaurant near the walking mall in Santa Monica CA
Do you like $5 lunches? I do - which is why I take friends who are visiting during a weekday to the Misfit for the $5 Bar Fly deals. Monday-Friday the Misfit will have one dish for $5 if you sit at the bar between 12-4 (no saving seats). Happy hour also happens during the same time. My favorite is the fried chicken sandwich on Thursdayâs. The chicken is moist on the inside but perfectly crunch on the outside and complemented by the coleslaw accompaniment. On this visit, we tried the ahi tuna burger which was cooked rare and was so very good. I liked the brioche bun and there was a slight level of spiciness that went well with the pickle provided. They give you complimentary salt chocolate chip cookies at the end when you pay your check. Love the food, the service is hit or miss. I think the bartenders get stressed when there are a lot of people and so you need to be patient. However the server who recently helped us thanked us for our patience and was nice overall. It might be a struggle to find a spot at the bar so just go during an off time to avoid crowds. The decor is cool and hip although itâs a bit annoying that the bathrooms are on the second floor. Thereâs indoor and outdoor seating. Overall, given its proximity to Third St Promenade, this restaurant has really good food. Try to come during lunch or happy hour to take advantage of the deals, otherwise just enjoy the free chocolate chip cookies and know that youâre eating at a high quality restaurant.

First of all, I have only been to the Santa Monica branch of this chain once. But I have also been to the Westwood, Sunset Blvd., Pasadena, downtown L.A. and Woodland Hills branches. The latter is where I have been the most, by far. In any case, this is a review of the chain, not the Santa Monica place. I love their salmon - they cook it with herbs and spices and it is delicious (but not spicy). They also have a tuna steak, seared around the edges, that is very good. The meal includes a side vegetable, a side of a green vegetable, and a slice of toasted bread with butter. If I go for lunch on a weekday, I go early ,because it gets very busy very soon. One caveat - they don't take cash.

The Turkey burger is the best! Great atmosphere, good location, the food is organic produce and fresh. The chefs are very innovative with the menus. You wonât be. Disappointed.

Centered around a wood burning oven, Tar & Roses serves up farmers market dishes with global influences.
Absolutely perfection. Tar & Roses is a beautiful restaurant. Reservations are honored on time. The staff is friendly, timely and helpful. The dishes are shareable plates of all different sized portions. From beginning to end everything was Heaven! The Bone Marrow was the best Iâve ever had. The chili crab cakes melt in your mouth. And the desserts are EVERYTHING! The two we had ... we practically licked the plates. One was Sticky Toffee Pudding . The other was something strawberry that came with honeycomb ice cream. Way to go Tar and Roses! You rule!
