I came into this cafe with my mother who is a light eater and was pleased to find a very large and extensive range of amazing food options. I had the soup special a corn and bacon chowder which was creamy and delicious. My mother had a club sandwich - fresh and tasty were her words. Excellent coffee and great service. My partner and I lunched here today and were very disappointed we spent over $60 for lunch and left hungry! There was nothing wrong with the food but we were disappointed at the lack of food. We wonât be coming back.Thanks for your feedback, weâre just reviewing our portion sizes and weâll make sure everyone leaves satisfied.

Lively place with a good atmosphere. My wife and I both had beef fillet wrapped in bacon. Portions were good and although I had ordered a side of fries these were not really required.Good range of beers and good service.2 mains and 3 beers came in at about £50 which I thought was very good value.

Really loved this restaurant when it was Raupo and having heard the restaurant was under new ownership as Saveur was interested to give it a try for dinner. As part of a large party it was firstly disappointing that we had to wait over 10 minutes to be given menus even though there were only a few other diners. We then waited at least a further 15 minutes to place orders and then only after one of the group members attracted a member of staffs attention. The food then seemed to take an unreasonable amount of time to arrive and was only average with the $17 entree cheese tart lacking value for money and the $8 portion of fries being lukewarm and not very crispy. Only other vegetarian option was also a entree of crumbed Camembert or a combination of sides. Wonât be heading back in a hurry.

Hans Herzog was recommended on Wine Enthusiast, I believe, and I believe I will never trust that source again as most of the places I went based on recommendations from that platform were snobbish and overrated, Hans Herzog being one of those. My husband and I decided to splurge on lunch. My husband ordered the steak. First of all, they use a sirloin cut, which is good if you are on a diet, but does not have the fat content to satisfy a diner paying top dollar. Also, they didn't give him a steak knife?!? Rookie mistake. I ordered the gnocchi and was also underwhelmed with the lack of flavor and kid-like display. The grounds are picturesque, but not worth the pricey dollar sign on the lackluster lunch. If you want a truly amazing meal, drive southeast toward Oamaru and eat at Riverstone Kitchenâbest restaurant on the South Island, hand down.

Took the opportunity to book an evening meal at Twelve Trees for a birthday celebration. Welcomed at the door, lovely table close to the fire and friendly, efficient service. My meal was one of the best I have had the pleasure to experience. Well thought out dishes with a fantastic blend of flavours, without "trying too hard". Absolutely loved the beets and goats cheese and the ginger medley dessert was gorgeous (ok I'm a huge ginger fan). All reasonably priced too. Thanks to the team at Twelve Trees for memorable evening out.Thank you so much for choosing our restaurant to celebrate your birthday. Special location, people/owners and the food and wine selections are to die for.Great in the day or evenings. Liz & Bradley have created a great knowledgeable crew around them. Thus the whole crew assist and become catalysts to create an enjoyable overall experience that I find clears away the stress's of the day and supports the "togetherness factor' between those who you are with and the Arbour Crews.
