I finally checked out this restaurant over the weekend and what a beautiful spot. The decor and vibe was splendid. The menu all looked amazing and what I did end up choosing was tasty. The only down side was that the service was lacking. Our server didn't seem to be around much and when she was there, seemed overwhelmed. However, that won't stop me from trying this restaurant again.

Everything about this place was right. The ambience is relaxed but elegant. The sound a delightful hubbub without painful hollow noise. The service professional, attentive, knowledgeable, and interesting. The food... Oooh the food. The combination of flavors were amazing. The wine list was excellent. If you haven't gone... What are you waiting for. It blows the others out of the water.

Food: appetizers were lackluster; mains were so bland we had to ask for more seasoning. Kitchen forgot half the meal of someone at our table which was later brought halfway through finishing the course. Desserts were beautiful and delicious and brought the overall experience to âborderline badâ instead of outright poor.Service: delivered sporadically, inconsistently and with the attitude of a preteen greeting her lesser favoured divorced parent. Not sure this was a personal issue though as every single member of the waitstaff seemed frazzled to the point of near tears and more than one uttered swear words angrily under their breath while passing our table in a hurry. I would wager a bet that management is not setting them up for success as I can see this sentiment echoed in reviews below.All in all: I have eaten at this restaurant more times than I can count (pre-renovation and post) and have left disappointed more often than not. Once, when I was dining here with my parents, our waiter cut his hand open with the corkscrew and bled all over the white tablecloth, flailing his hands in panic and spraying blood all over our table in the process. It brings me no joy to say that that meal was honestly more enjoyable and memorable than this one. I canât say I will eat here before a show again, which is sad given the convenience. Good day, thank you for taking the time to share your recent experiences of 1 Elgin as well as your previous experience with the restaurant before renovations. We're glad you enjoyed the dessert but are disappointed to hear that the rest of your meal, and the service you experienced, were less than optimal. These messages are brought to the attention of staff and management in order to continually improve our service to valued patrons, like you. It sounds like you were served on a show night, which can get a little hectic with our endeavor to serve between 150-200 people in the space of a couple of hours before a show. It's a difficult task that our staff continually works hard to perfect. Thanks again for sharing and we do hope to see you again.

This was a gift certificate we had from a family member, the restaurant is in a small strip mall hidden a bit but definitely looks are deceiving. When you come in it's a very warm inviting place no noise that you need to talk over. We started with the warm bread and butter which was fantastic with different breads. Then we shared the pears & prosciutto which again we're just the perfect size, then we had the chicken dish and the steak dish and the tiramisu for dessert. We will definitely come back again

For those who do not know the Brig Pub has a great party room upstairs called Armada Lounge. Was at a party there recently and was fantastic. The appetizers were amazing and the staff was so friendly. Great bar and DJ. Danced all night.The venue was so beautiful and over looking the garden.Highly recommend for a party!!

We are visiting Manotick and friends recommended The Black Dog for lunch.My husband had a Black Dog Pilsner, the beef burger with fries and I had fish tacos. The basic burger was excellent. It was expensive if you included add ons such as cheese, mushrooms, bacon, etc.There are two fish tacos, which at first blush looked small, but WOW were they filling and very very tasty.Overall we enjoyed our lunch and would return.

Recently went to Beckta with 3 friends. Service was prompt, professional and courteous, wine suggestions and matches were excellent, and the entire experience was a pleasure. The bar chefâs surprise menu was great. Our server matched each course flawlessly. Beckta on Elgin is a wonderful experience.
