At Michael Jordan's Restaurant, greatness is always in play. Combining a high energy environment with classic American fare and an all-star roster of craft beers, wines and spirits, this is a dining experience worthy of the greatest of all times.
I recently went to Jordan's for the first time for a business lunch / meeting. We sat in the bar where we got great service from the bartender. The soup of the day was chicken curry, so I had to try it. It tasted good, but there wasn't enough to it - chicken, coconut milk broth, and some carrots. It really could have used some rice. I got the turkey avocado sandwich with fries. I don't really get excited about turkey sandwiches, but this one was great. And the fries were even better. Prices were reasonable. The lunch menu was a bit limited, but with such good choices that's not an issue. I didn't have a lot of time to really look the place over since we had a meeting going, but the place seemed really nice, especially with MJ's sneakers on the wall.

Vie, named after the French word for life, offers seasonal, contemporary American cuisine inspired by Western European cultures and rustic fare. Chef and owner Paul Virant focuses on year-round seasonal eating with a menu featuring housemade pickles and p
By any standard, Vie in Western Springs, Illinois, is one of the leading restaurants in the United States. It has earned one star from Michelin, the gold standard of culinary rating systems, and is ranked among the top 40 eateries in the country. Located at 4471 Lawn Avenue, a few steps from a Metra station, chef/owner Paul Virant opened his masterpiece in 2004, the first restaurant in Western Springs to serve liquor since Prohibition. It makes for farm-to-table fine dining in an elegant, warm setting with white tablecloths and black banquettes. It opens at 5 from Tuesday through Saturday. Virant offers five and eight-course tasting menus. There are so many delicious dishes that you are pressed to choose one item from another. How about a first course of pan fried Great Lakes perch or a domestic cheese plate or chilled muskmelon soup or wood-grilled corn or the Vie charcuterie with country pate, coppa, summer sausage, rye toast, pickles and mustard or chicken milanese with smoked chicken and fresh peaches? Entrees? How about pan roasted Great Lakes whitefish or wood-grilled 12-pound New York strip or bratwurst sausage and smoked ham or wood-grilled lamb loin and BBQ lamb leg or wood-grilled sturgeon? Virant has a thing with wood-grilled. But it seems to work. For dessert, try the dark chocolate croquette with milk chocolate whipped ganache, white chocolate gelato, sable crumble and raspberry jam. Or cucumber sorbet with blueberry granita, sparkling heirloom lime soda and blueberries. Vie is a unique, one-of-a-kind restaurant. But what would you expect from a Michelin award winner?

Dined here with a party of 11 (includes 3 small children) for my daughterâs birthday. To take advantage of their happy hour, when we made the reservation we asked to be seated in their patio area which they did. Arrived and table was ready on time. Our server was Leo and was very attentive throughout the evening. Our first drink order came in a reasonable amount of time and all enjoyed. We ordered some appetizers (happy hour flatbread and sushi rolls) and they came in a reasonable amount of time. This is where things kind of went sideways. Our second round of drinks took over 15 minutes to arrive. Leo apologized a couple times but would just say, âa couple minutes.â Our drinks finally came and then they brought the 3 kids meals so we thought we were good and adults food would be shortly following. Not the case. I am not sure if bringing the kids meals that early was by design or if it what was a kitchen goof. Either way, the parents appreciated it as they were able to help the kids eat while not worrying about their own food getting cold. Our food took another 10-15 minutes after that. Again just got the âa couple minutes.â Would have much rather had a manager come over and explain the truth instead of just patronizing us.When our food finally did come, everything was great with one exception-one person asked for the sauce on the side (spicy) and it came on her chicken. Not the end of the world but worth mentioning. All food was tasty with larger than expected portions. To sum it all up:Pros: Food and drink quality, portion size, happy hour specials, took 3 happy hour drinks off our bill because of the waitCons: Slow food and drink service (not on server but on the kitchen and bar), a manager should have taken a few seconds to come to our table-party of 11 and our bill was over $300.00 with tip.Ultimately my test of a restaurant is will I go back? The answer is yes but probably not with a large party.

We were back in Chicago for a visit, and a Hindsdale couple we've known there for a very long time, recommended Parker's Grill for some good food. They are regulars there, and even made the reservations for us.Unfortunately the whole experience here was just awful.Felt like we were being profiled from the minute we valeted our car, a rented toyota.Perhaps pulling up in a Bentley or Jag might have got the evening off to a better start. We were seated alright, but in Siberia for sure. they gave us the one table between the kitchen and the toilet. Classy!Service was completely non-existent for us.They brought the menus, they brought the food and they brought the check. Not once during the entire meal did anyone ask how's your food? Can I refill your glass? Would you like another drink?I remember actually turning in my chair to try to make eye contact with any passing waiter and they all refused. WE COULD NOT WAIT TO GET OUT OF THERE.this place reminded me of the old Gene & Georgettis on the near north side.If you were a regular, life was good...... but if you were a fist timer.....BANISHED UPSTAIRS!very disappointed we spent all the money we did here , for ultimately so little.Don't bother, there's so many great places to eat around there.Just head east a little down 31st and stop in at Pappadeaux Seafood.they treat everybody the same over there.Hi, Peter. Please accept my sincerest apologies for the experience you describe. This is absolutely not how we want our guests to be treated or feel when they dine with us, and I am so disappointed to learn that we fell short on your visit. Please know that we donât take this feedback lightly, and I am discussing your review with my whole team. I would also like to speak with you directly. When itâs convenient for you, can you please reach out to me at [email protected] with your name, phone number and the best day/time to reach you? I will give you a call. Coming to this area a lot for work, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this gem! How I had not been here prior is strange as J Alexanderâs is right up my alley.Nice Mix menu, lovely ambiance/decor and fantastic service. We got the deviled eggs appetizer which was delicious! I got the fried chicken strips dinner and my friend got the ahi steak. I went crazy for the coleslaw... it was SO good as was the rest of my meal. We did their carrot cake which may me the best carrot cake I have ever tasted with a warm light icing. Iâll be back.
