It was created in 1994 when the Cape Province was split up. Its capital is Kimberley. It includes the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, an international park shared with Botswana. In the northeast, Kuruman is known as a mission station and also for its artesian spring, the Eye of Kuruman. The Orange River flows through the province, forming the borders with the Free State in the southeast and with Namibia to the northwest. The river is also used to irrigate the many vineyards in the arid region near Upington.

Mile 250 (or Myl 250 in Afrikaans) is not what we expected. A large open air restaurant that can be closed off to keep out the cold.Interesting decor - not what one would expect in Calvinia. The menu choices are wide with hamburgers, steaks and a huge selection of pizzas. If you are looking for pizza, then come here.

Die Blikbord is a cozy and comfortable café that serves affordable good quality traditional food cooked on a coal stove. This restaurant is open 6 days a week and it is worth stopping and enjoying a meal.
On Friday 21 July myself and six friends visited the Blikbord restaurant, we arrived about 10 minutes before closing time but still we were received with a friendly welcome and enjoyed a relaxing evening with really great food. We ate schnitsels, gatsbys and pizza and all the food was well prepared and very tasty. Saturday 22 July we visited the Blikbord again as we just could not stay away and enjoyed another great dinner and even when we ordered additional food that was not on the menu he made a plan and prepared additional fabulous food for us. Thank you Kobus for the great food and friendly service! You will definately see us again!

We stayed over in Richmond en route to Joburg and so enjoyed our dinner at the Supper Club. Lovely atmosphere and excellent meal. Tonya and Christian were wonderful hosts and while we dined Christian played the piano and is a very accomplished pianist! We will definitely return for another meal.
As you drive into Williston â you wonât be able to miss this gem which oozes with charm! Just look out for the huge banners and flags that represent the Karoo theme. The name of the restaurant explains it all, Manna â Food from Heaven! Manna opened its do
Well actually the Manna restaurant is easily located on the main Street of Williston. A lovely place to stop and enjoy light refreshments or a good quality, well priced main meal. The menu is extensive and includes a fine choice of karoo food. For travellers in this area, you will not be disappointed, the staff are friendly and helpful and the service was quick.

The restaurant has a nice setting. The layout is sensible and service staff were helpful and eager to serve. There are however only two items on the menu that are plant-based. A mushroom burger and a 'tree hugger pizza'. I had the mushroom burger on two occasions and the first time the serving was quite large. I had ordered fries as a side order but thankfully the waiter forgot because the fries that came with the burger was an ample portion. On the second occasion the height of the burger had shrunk by about 50%, the fries were less this time I would have taken a side order if I knew. They had also run out of pesto. I appreciate the fact that plant-based dining is not a major thing in the area but I feel there should be a little more consideration. It is not that difficult to have one or two more options.

Vergelegen Restaurant compliments the oasis like hospitality complex it is part of near the Northern Cape town of Kakamas. On the premises you can dine in our intimate a la carte restaurant which had numerous write-ups. Dine at the fireplace or outside on
We had a light dinner here (burgers and snails) food was a bit bland and tasteless for the price. Chef could put some more effort into the food we feel.
