Find out what Contemporary restaurants to try in Kodaikanal. Kodaikanal has an endangered animal called the grizzled giant squirrel. To us, that alone is reason to book a trip ("grizzled giant squirrel" might be the best animal name ever). Perched on the woodsy southern crest of the Palani Hills, nearly 7,000 feet above sea level, this popular lakeside resort town is a magnet for nature lovers. Wander the peaceful slopes, keeping an eye out for birds, exotic flowers and, of course, grizzled giant squirrels.

Bistro 1845 is a French style à la carte bistro and bar, serving the best of European, Asian and Indian cuisine. With cozy settings both indoors and outdoors, this vintage-themed resto-bar is sure to take you back in time.
Great experience. Wonderful setting and ambiance. Super chef and waiting staff. Faultless, other than they don't sell wine by the glass, which I am sure will be rectified shortly. Not to be missed.

Melody is a must visit for people that visit kodaikanal. They serve a large variety of dishes and the food that we ordered met all our expectations. Hari's Chook is a must try and is highly recommended.
Passiflora Art Cafe is a cosy space in Poombarai, Kodaikkanal. We are placed overlooking the beautiful valley of the Queen of Hills, huddled in the fog and among some trees. Our food is organic and freshly prepared. A perfect spot to have a fun time with
The best view of poombarai village and thats it, thats where it ends. Do not believe pictures of the food from this restaurant. The food is the worst food I have had in a long time. We ordered veg pasta which looked and tasted like its been made by an immature for the first time. Too much black pepper, hardly any white cheese and veggies too crunchy. My ginger lemon tea had no ginger, only water and sugar. The frech fries with cheese was really bad. We complained and the fries went back to the kitchen. It returned after more than half an hour with no change. Its a place for stoners (including the keralite owner of the restaurant ) and bikers, who smoke a joint and dont care about the taste of the food.Try this place at your own risk!!!!!
