We went with another couple to Gerards who recommended the current special of soft shell crab. I have had soft shell crab in New Orleans and Savannah. This was every bit as good if not better. Also enjoyed some blue point oysters. Delicious and very reasonably priced. They offered many other fresh fish dishes, often hard to find in St. Louis. There is one puzzle....very few other diners. Don't understand as the food is great, pleasant dining room, white table cloths, good wine list. The positive is you can be spontaneous, don't need a reservation! Try this hidden gem. You won't be disappointed.

Gourmet dining close to Ballwin in Valley Park. So nice to find a nearby quality restaurant without having to haul to mid town, south or downtown. Excellent fish, interesting/varied food boards with selections of fish or meats. Excellent wine list, unusual tasty sides, fabulous desserts! Although a bit pricey, since everything is ala carte, this is my new favorite place for special dinners with friends, birthdays, dates etc. There's another location in CWE. Can't wait to go back!

As a third generation restaurateur, Bob Menendez began learning basic culinary skills at about the same time he learned to play baseball. After attending the University of Denver, he joined the management team of several well known St Louis restaurants be
We love Sunset 44 Bistro and have chosen it for family celebrations and more ordinary get-togethers. The restaurant is really attractive, with a welcoming staff who will do everything they can to make your experience a good one. It's all on one level -- good for people with mobility issues -- and it's QUIET. Not silent (there's a bubbling sort of atmosphere of people enjoying themselves), but there's no background music, no clatter of open kitchen noises, and the sound management is so good that you can really, truly have a conversation with your companions without shouting. How rare is that these days? Also, when we visited yesterday evening,we left our wine choice in the hands of Bob, the owner and clearly a wine expert, who guided us to a less expensive bottle and kept popping in to share a couple of glasses of lovely stuff he had opened. My mother's birthday dessert with candle was comped. It is always a super dining experience.Your kind comments very much appreciated by all here! Thank you.
