Really interesting food in a small setting . A good range of small, medium and large dishes. Our favourites were fish amok; scotch fillet and the spiced cauliflower side. Very reasonably priced wine list from small wineries. Strongly recommend. Also consider the chefâs tasting menu.

Woodland House is the collaboration between two of Melbourne's finest young chefs, Thomas Woods and Hayden McFarland. A united culinary force, they have created an innovative, energetic and produce-based cuisine of their very own.
We at the degustation menu with matching wines ... from start to finish we were underwhelmed by both the food and service. The whole place lacks atmosphere: soulless grey decor. The waiting staff were well-meaning but not up to the standard I expect from a restaurant of this standard. Of all the staff we saw, one was a native English speaker (and he didnât serve us) the rest were heavily accented, which made it hard to discern what we were being fed. We repeatedly referred to the menu for hints. A couple of the waiting staff also seemed very inexperienced and couldnât respond to relatively simple questions from us and other patrons. One Chinese couple, with excellent English, tried to make a request about the cheese course but eventually gave up trying to make themselves understood. One exception to this was the Italian (I think) sommelier who was articulate and well-informed (though I didnât agree with some of the pairings!).The menu seemed oddly sparse in information. The main ingredient in the poached calamari, for example, was poached fennel. This was quite tasty, but also a complete surprise. Why not mention it?!The food itself was variable, to say the least. A couple of quite interesting tastes - the scallop was lovely, as was the wallaby, but much of it was bland and/or under-seasoned. Not worth the money by any measure.Having recently been to Attica, which has some similarities in terms of menu style, we had high hopes of another evening of delicious food and informative service. This delivered neither. Save your money and go somewhere else - or getting organised (and get saving) and go to Attica if you want food and service worth the price tag.

Dinner here and was happy. Large restaurant, great chefs. Staff were attentive and quick to serve. Good menu selection. The spaghetti was delicious, and large servings which we love, value for money rather than walk away still hungry.Hubby disappointed in he wanted Pork belly but they had none so settled for a steak which was ok but not one of the best he had else where but also not one of the worst. Lovely accompaniment of vegies with the steak.Had a nice chocolate cake slice to share as a dessert, we enjoyed it thoroughly. We recommend to give this restaurant a go, we will go back for another meal.Good parking out back and there is an entrance out there next to Katmandu.

2.8We stopped for a pre dinner drink tonight. One Mekong Sunrise and an Aperol Spritz. I was going to have a Negroni but backed off that when the server said, â...I may have the recipe for that...â which didnât generate confidence that itâd be a good one.Service was pleasant but slow and the cocktails took a long while to be started, finished and served. We may have just been unlucky as I think a couple of staff members were either on a break or came in just before we left. Whatever the reason the delay was too long with so few customers inside before things really geared up for the evening. My partnerâs Aperol Spritz was ordinary. Wrong glass and the mix tasted underehelming. By contrast, the Mekong Sunrise was excellent. It was a very nice cocktail. It was an average experience tonight, unfortunately. I might be prepared to return given some of the other good reviews about the place.

It is a rare thing to find a cafe/restaurant willing to do half serves but this is my second time of being accommodated. I love that I donât have to waste food I know I am unable to eat and enjoyed my toast by a beautiful sunny window overlooking the outdoor garden. The chef made a point of visiting me to tell me that in this day and age he believed it imperative to accommodate customers needs. A huge thankyou for this and for supporting the non-wastage of food in a time when so many have little or nothing to eat.

My family all very particular about food . When we discover this restaurant, it has since been our private canteen whenever we are lazy to cook and desire for good cantonese cuisine at very reasonable prices. The menu is not very big but enough to satisfy a family. They do not use MSG, a very big plus for us as some are allegic to this stuff. Love their lobster tail on noddles. Home made taufu (beancurd) as its silky and tasty. Most importantly, the staff are all so lovely and that makes the dinning experience perfect!
