Traditional Italian bistrot, close to Racconigi Castle. The restaurant was totally renewed in 2015.
This small restaurant (about 40 places), located at less than 100 m from the Racconigi Castle, is a modern structure, with some food innovations and contaminations grafted on a solid cuisine tradition. It proposes a seasonal menu or, in alternative, a short selection of dishes. The menu includes two starters (warm and cold), a pasta dish, a meat dish and a traditional dessert (or fruits). The ingredients are fresh, the seasoning light, the quantity correct. With a good bottle of Barbera and the cafè, the price was of 33 Euros per person. Booking preferrable, expecially on Sundays.

Went there for our first lunch in Piedmont. The food was excellent (ravioli stuffed with snails, a local delicacy, another kind of pasta, 2 different pana cottas), and the Barolo of superb quality for a very, very decent price. Add to this a friendly owner, and this was one of our best eating experiences in the region.

When visiting La Morra recently, one of our winemaker friends, one of the top producers actually, took us for lunch. She said this is a really simple place, but run by one of the Slowfood founders. By the roadside, outside of the village of Cherasco and by a gas station, was this bistrot. Inside bright colours and modern design. Behind the counter you could choose from excellent cheeses and hams, and all sorts of antipasti. After lots of excellent antipasti and really good homemade bread we ordered carne cruda, and it was of top quality veal, perfect!! Rounded off the meal with icecream "artisanal". Good wine list also. Good pricing. Don't hesitate to try it, so fresh, and delicious, but the setting is far from "fine dining" . And, in spite of the very modern interior, there are treasures like piedmontese specialities to be found, check out our photo of carpione misto for example!!
