Incredibly rude staff. They treat Indians as if they are some low creatures who don't deserve any respect. When we asked about starters, very rudely this head waiter asked us to order starters and main course at the same time. Then brought out the main course first. When we requested that starters be served first, this guy literally snatched the main course, dumped the starters on our table and then later dumped the main course on the table. Foreigners get royalty treatment. Well hello, we aren't some beggars who begged for free food, we are paying customers as well ..

Sat on top tier which was relaxing and good sunset view. Tibetan menu with other food options but momos were the best! Salads and fish in banana leaf were very tasty too and massive portions! Reasonably priced and very friendly staff. Went twice as was so good, a bit of a wait but worth it as can use Wifi or admire the view. Highly recommended.

I was super imperfect by the ambience of this place because of the sea facing view. I love how they have put so much efforts into the interiors of the place. Now coming to the mouth watering mood menu we begin with chowder prawn soup which was gooey and creamy and it was everything i was looking to start my meal. Fish fingers was uttery savoury and one of my favourite. Chiken tikka masala was luscious and rich with spices and the celebrity dish was kerala fish curry with marinated, succulent Fish and literally finger linking!! A special kudos goes to the chefs as all the food they prepared was delicious and appealing! Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to leave valuable feedback! We are grateful you enjoyed the atmosphere & food!We look forward to welcoming you back to The Bait & Hook: Seaside Restaurant in Varkala, Kerala.Regards,Guest Relations Manager

Good breakfast, good pizza, good chop suey. The staff is really cool and friendly. Good juices and smoothies too. I needed a break from curry, and although they also have an indian menu, they can prepare a lot of other things too - the menu is varies and they have a stone oven for pizzas. I really thank these guys for giving me good food! Sometimes in India its hard to find good food unless is indian, (fare enough) so I was very happy to keep going back at Mama Champos. And yes, they have a nice garden/seating area. Very pleasant. Good prices too.

This is a wonderful restaurant in a wonderful location. It is right on the beach, you can get there after a short walk from black beach, and it is a wonderful place to swim. Before swimming, Sunny the main actor of the restaurant ( cook and waiter) suggests all the morning fresh fish he has, you order, go for a swim and come back when Sunny waives you itâs ready. The fish is more than delicious, but so are the sea food, and the home made healthy deserts. Sunny is always there to greet you with a smile and some funny joke, and to help you as well. There are tables under umbrellas if you want to stay on the beach, or if it gets windy or a bit rainy thereâs a covered terrace. There are bathrooms but especially there are out doors hot showers, where you can wash off the sea salt. The restaurant is definitely one of my favorites in Varkala. A must.

We inform our regular customers we have only changed the name of the restaurant but management, staff, location, food and hospitality are the same. We hope to see you soon...
I had dinner at this place on Feb 13th, overpriced and not a lot of items on menu that we could order. We ordered paneer and chapati. Just wanted to say that we didn't need spoon or knife, Chapati done all the job.

I tried this restaurant because they had quite many options for the seafood . Each evening there fresh seafood and fish placed in front of the restaurant. I went twice here, one lunch and one dinner. Lunch I ordered buttered fish snapper, portion is big however tasted not so fresh, seems the fish was from last night, and dinner order the vegetable platter and it was ok , not so impressive. However the staffs here are really welcoming and warm hospitality , and i enjoying the view as well.
