Things to do in Spring Lake Park
Leeann Chin has been around since the early 1980s. I remember driving 20 plus miles just to eat at the first location in Minnetonka, Minnesota. It was "the place" to go when I was younger high school/college. As time has passed it has become a very commercial entity and I believe the food has changed and although it is still good, it does not have the same attraction as when I was young. The last time I ate here my entree had an outline or border of grease.

This is an interesting little restaurant built in an old dairy Queen. It is basically a combined Vietnamese and Chinese menu, very extensive. My wife loves the Vietnamese egg rolls. I've had several different items from both the Vietnamese and Chinese menus. I would say they are better off just ditching the Chinese menu, as every time I've ordered that it's been OK at best. There are typically only 2 people working in the restaurant. The lady taking orders is normally very friendly but if it is busy, she can get overwhelmed. She's taking phone orders and serving the customers who dine in. The kitchen is very slow for a place like this, so don't expect quick service.Local people who are eating here always tell other customers who come in how much they love it. The first time we dined in it was a good experience for us too, but as an Asian take out, I'm still looking for something a little better and more reliable.

Service was wonderful and quick. Wait staff was friendly and willing to talk with you. I would definitely liked to have seen some sort of combination meals available. What we ordered was absolutely great. Entries come with white rice with an upgrade of $2 for fried rice. That or you get a whole order of fried rice and share it.Yes, we would go back there again. Prices were what I would consider upper mid-range, but not outrageous.

I took my daughter there because it was convenient. She didn't mind the quality of the food because she picked one or two things she liked. The more I tried, the less I liked. The food WAS fresh but didn't taste that way. A bit limp and/or greasy. The variety was small considering the size of the buffet line. Not worth returning.
Where to eat Pub food in Spring Lake Park: The Best Restaurants and Bars

The bottom line: 1. Flavors are layered, complex and scrumptious. Believe me on this one. This is high caliber cooking...absolutely. 2. Portions are huge. 3. Prices are crazy cheap (I hope they don't go out of business because of undercutting themselves). We have only had take out, but I hear they have an incredible lunch buffet for only $6.15. What we've eaten: Szechuan Kung Pao Chicken -- perfect. Sesame Chicken (which I ordered 'spicy') --so good. Tons of veggies including carrots, mushrooms, onions, cabbage, celery, water chestnuts, peapods. Regular Chow Mein: I thought this was a bit too thin-----too much sauce and too little substance, however the flavor was excellent. Cheese wontons: best I've ever had....and my husband agrees. Then, the first time we ordered take out, they threw in some of their homemade doughnuts for FREE! They were delicious. Last night, they threw in some egg rolls for FREE....they list two kinds of egg rolls on their menu, and I don't know which ones these were, however, they were very different from anything I've ever had, and by far the BEST of anything I've ever had.I also cast my "clean freak" eye (inherited from my mom) around the dining room, and the place looked pretty doggone spotless. You. Must. Go. There. And no I don't work there (probably sounds like it from the way I'm gushing), but we do live a mere two miles from there, have lived this close for 21 years and just now have discovered it. I feel like I've somehow "lost" 21 years of my life.

Spring Park Lake location of franchise.
Arrived with my party of three just as lunch ended and dinner began. As I went to inspect the trays of food I found fresh stocked trays in every bin. Yes, I was pleasantly surprised. All the food was hot and tasty. I would say that the hibachi steak was tough and chewy. Overall, my party enjoyed their meals and not a single complaint! The staff was very courteous and quick to remove our plates and offer more drinks.
