Although it is a part of the East County region, Santee is located just 18 miles (29 km) from the Pacific Ocean. The city is connected to the coastline by State Route 52, a six-lane freeway that runs from Interstate 5 in La Jolla to State Route 67 in El Cajon. The city is bisected by the San Diego River, a linear greenbelt that includes parks, trails and more than 1,100 acres (450 ha) of natural riparian habitat.

Some really good food served by great waitresses. Loved the crispy beef and the fried calamari. Food prices are good for the area. Have plenty of seating. Fast, friendly service.

My husband and I were trying to find a good Chinese restaurant. Every morning, we pass by a small shopping center on our way to somewhere else. The sign just says "Chinese Food". We decided to give it a try.What a surprise. We were greeted by Gina, who was very friendly, personable and knowledgeable. When we told her what we were looking for, she told us exactly what to order. The food was fabulous. Probably some of the best Chinese food we have eaten anywhere.Chai Waii is located right next to the Santee Library. They cut the vegetables fresh each day. They peel the shrimp fresh each day. They will make variations of their menu items to suit your taste buds... whether you want it spicy, extra garlic, white sauce instead of brown, substitute one meat for another or meatless. Pretty much whatever you want. Get a 32 oz. drink for $1.50. There are a few tables if you want to sit and eat there. Gina will bring out your food, but basically you just order and sit down. Most of their business seems to be take-out. Your food is served on real plates with silverware... not plastic or Styrofoam. The restaurant is very clean.All in all, it was a great meal at a reasonable price. Serving size is good. Try it out. You won't be disappointed. They also deliver within a 2 mile radius.

My companion ordered the soup and loved it. The entrees were nothing special and service was very slow. Little English spoken. No atmosphere. I couldn't wait to leave!

Since my son started eating solid food (14 years or so) we've been going to Panda Express in Santee, and still eat there or take out 3-4 times a month. The food has always been consistently good and the service generally better than many other Panda Express stores we've been to.

Red Lotus dinner specials are a great deal. My favorite is the Mandarin Dinner! They have a large menu selection of over a 100 items to choice from. With generious portions for a fair price. This is a great local restaurant for mandarin & szechuan cuisine!.

We took our four kids 6 and under to dinner here. They were so great with our kids!! This was out first time out to eat with all four kids and they made it so special for us! They even gave the kids little flashlights. The food was awesome. The staff was was awesome. We will be back!
