The town rests on the mouth of the Peconic River, from which it derives its name. Since 1727, Riverhead has been the county seat of Suffolk County. The smaller hamlet of Riverhead lies within it, and is the town's principal economic center. The town is 166 miles (267 km) southwest of Boston via the Orient Point-New London Ferry, and is 76 miles (123 km) northeast of New York City.

....recently heard from someone that the laundromat next door had an employee complain that when she cleans the dryer vents daily, many roaches run out of each one-personally have never seen any; no idea if the Board of Health was either notified or does regular checks of this; possibly this review will make them aware. I will say I have eaten there many times including had my wedding rehearsal there. I don't fill up on the rice, donuts/desserts or soups. I take mostly chicken, beef and pork on my dish which is from going around 1 1/2 of the food counters the first time and then the other 1 1/2 counters of the remaining chafing pans for a second time. Most times, I cannot even fit some ice milk afterwards. The variety is numerous including American dishes even for children such as pizza, french fries and macaroni and cheese. Dinner is more expensive than lunch as it has much more fish dishes including king crab legs. A fresh sushi bar is also included as are free beverage refills. I do have to say that one time when the lunch had switched to dinner as we sat, the charge was more than I had expected but luckily had enough to pay. Personally I don't eat fish so the extra platters of fish that were added were not anything I wanted. That wasn't a problem at all but what was? I didn't have enough for the tip and a waiter literally RAN OUT and CHASED us into the parking lot yelling for a tip!

If you like Mediterranean food, this is THE place to go.The atmosphere is simple and charming. The service is friendly and efficient, the food prices are competitive.All that said...AND the Mediterranean style diet is supposedly the healthiest on the planet....and you have a winning combination. On our visit we had 3 platters of generously proportioned food with very flavorful seasonings. The chicken gyro was large and tasty. The chicken salad platter was overflowing and had fresh cheese, greens, ham and chicken with seasonings. My own Mazi chicken was a flat bread with chicken, bacon and avocado divided on either side by a generous salad.The lemonade flavored with honey is unique and delicious. No wonder locals LOVE this place!

Went on a Monday night (6:30 PM) after Splish Splash and went with a large group. Large room like most buffets and almost everything was cold/warm/just coming up to temperature. Looked as if it would have stayed the same unless people came in. Then, during the meal they brought out hot dishes and the food was better. But during the time we were there from 6:30 - 7:30 there were a total of 3 people who came in. If ANY chinese buffet is good, a lot of people show up. Staff was very nice and friendly, but this place is on life support
