The population at the 2010 census was 12,321, a loss of 5.4 percent since the 2000 census figure of 13,022. It has been the capital of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation since the United States Civil War. The name is from the Creek word oki mulgee which means "boiling waters" in English. Other translations put it as "babbling brook" or 'Effluvium'. The site was chosen because of the nearby rivers and springs. Okmulgee is 38 miles south of Tulsa and 13 miles north of Henryetta via US-75.

The food here is good for a Chinese restaurant in Okmulgee. It is a typical Chinese buffet with a little sushi bar for an added kick. Don't get me wrong, the sushi isn't sushi restaurant quality but it's palatable. The service isn't bad by any means but I've never once been to a Chinese buffet where they weren't hounding you for drink refills and cleaning your table as soon as you took your last bite off of a plate. Overall: good food, good service.

I regularly eat there with my son and we like it a lot. The have salad bar with a fair selection. Their buffet is not the biggest but it has good variety and will easily fill you up. The have ice cream and peach cobbler which make a great desert combo

Misaki Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar is at this address.The restaurant was so cold inside, our server wore her winter jacket while serving us. There were only 2 tables of customers and they seated us right near them. So 3 tables total and our server was still very slow and confused most of the time.The water tastes HORRIBLE here! It tastes like there is dirt in it! I couldn't drink it so I ordered some tea hoping it would cover up the dirt taste. Nope - it tasted like tea made with dirty water! The water she served the tea bag in was luke warm and not even hot enough to steep the tea.We all got lunch specials. The food was just ok and the fried rice was loaded with tons of pepper.Overall, not very good. We have no plans to eat here again!!!
