We have been looking for good Chinese food ever since the Hawaii fountain closed years ago. For a long time it was Daxxon in walden NY. However, it was sold recently and is not very good anymore. Our search brought us to Newton and Chun Bo to see how they are. While the service was a bit slow, it was not terrible. As for the food, we were very pleased with both the taste and portions. The won-ton soup we really like at other places had a dark broth. The soup here had a light , refreshing broth that did not taste like it came from a can. The won-tons were very flavorful and cooked nicely. The beef sticks were really good and had a sticky glaze that was slightly sweet. We really enjoyed them. Our dinners came out and we were surprised at the portion size. The boneless ribs and ribs with bones were very good and the other entree with beef, chicken and shrimp and veggies was very tasty. The veggies were nicely done and still crisp. The fried rice was the best I have had in quite some time. Slightly smokey from proper wok cooking and a nice balance of egg, vegetables and pork. The bill came to just over 60 bucks with desert and appetizers for the 4 of us and we had a ton of left overs. All in all I would say it was a good price for the meals we got. We are already planning to return with friend to try other menu items.
Our family is very particular for our taste of Chinese food. We have been a customer of this restaurant for a few years. The big part of their business is take-out or delivery. They also have a dine in area as well. The menu is priced right.
This is a Chinese buffet located in the Sussex County mall off of Route 206. The price is very reasonable. However, there is not much variety. The selection is small and there does not seem to be much difference between the lunch and dinner buffets (except for the price of course). The food was just ok. I would stop there occasionally if I wanted something fast and economical, but when my daughter turned 8, they started charging me as if she was an adult. So, I stopped patronizing it. I shouldn't have to pay an adult price for someone who is not even close to an adult.

So my title has to be backed up by some great facts right? I have now been to Happy Wok more than 9 times and each time i am impressed with their food and courtesy and great service.Having said that , i HAVE tried all of the Asian restaurants in Sussex county except a few and across the board i keep coming back to Happy Wok. Here is why.The food is very good quality, no silly fillers are added into every dish such as big green peppers that most places do. Here , the vegetables are baby corn , snap peas, good quality mushrooms, carrot and broccoli that come in the dishes. Spring roll wrappers are real spring roll wrapper not egg roll wrapper as is often used in many places. Every dish tastes different with different sauces and can be enjoyed individually. Flavors are spot on. Free crunches are given with green tea, these are fresh and don't have that old oil smell. All the dishes i have tried have been exceptional in quality and flavor and ingredients. very satisfying portions.Fried rice is delicious and mouth watering every time. The miso soup comes with very expensive mushrooms and hot and comfortingThe owner is a super genuine hardworking guy, always smiling and eager to please.Every time i go in he throws in something free for my kids which is great customer service. The dine in part is not the best , it is clean but small and not at all fancy but who cares when the food is so enjoyable. There is street parking which is always busy and it is right across from the theatre, but there are a few spaces at the back to park for free reserved for the restaurant.Luncheon specials run on Saturday too(not many places do that!) A family can eat very well for $30 and take food home as well! Prices are reasonable and fair. The sushi is not the best but i could not complain , i was just comparing it to high end sushi restaurants. There is the Thai part of the menu which is equally good , the Pad Thai is good .Extensive menu to please every palate and dietary needs.I keep going back here even though it is not in my town because i am never dissatisfied with the food and the service is great every time. I would pick Happy Wok 10 times over the somewhat fancier boat shaped gaudy chinese place down the road!
