Went here with family on Christmas Eve with 5:30pm reservations. Got right in to our table and received our appetizer and drinks right away. Downhill from that point on! Took over an hour to get our entree. Food was lukewarm and bland, especially the Mu Shu pork which is listed as one of their specialty. Was Told by waiter, who cared less, that the kitchen was filling takeouts before in restaurant patrons. Place was packed but that should not be an excuse

We have been dining at Great Wall for years, since they opened in Lafayette. Wonderful Chinese food in a warm atmosphere with very reasonable prices. Family operated the servers know the patrons and are personable. Every visit has been marvelous, but our visit in February seemed special. Jimmy, our server, remembers our nine year old grandson by name and asked about him since this visit he wasn't with us. Great Wall has a full bar and when we skip martinis, we always have Tse Doh beers with our Pot Stickers (the best) and a Seafood Delight entree. The Wor Wonton Soup is wonderful also. The Great Wall is worth finding on Golden Gate way in Lafayette.

We had a group of 4 there for dinner on Christmas night when, of course, most restaurants are closed. The place was full and as a result the service was slow, but that's not really my main criticism. The real issue is that the food isn't more than average, pretty bland and maybe a bit overcooked. The vegetables were somewhat limp, the green onion pancakes were overly browned, the sizzling rice soup didn't sizzle, the mushu wraps were too thick and the seasonings were minimal. Not a place I would choose to go to back to on an ordinary night.
For a fast food take out option, I do like Panda Express, however I've noticed in several locations the worst time to visit is between 2:30-4:30. Food isn't as fresh. Some locations are better than others and some offer different options. Iâve always found their pot stickers to be fresh, the eggplant with tofu tasty, and the vegetables crunchy. Their chow mein can be hit or miss, depending on who is cooking. Chicken dishes are the most prevalent. Some locations offer shrimp at an additional $1.25 but most of these options are breaded. Nevertheless, I really enjoy Asian food and when Iâm in a hurry, I can usually find something appetizing for under $8.00.
