Heard great reviews about here but we were terribly disappointed. It was ok but nothing to write home about. Partners pho was overdone, noodles were soggy and my Chinese balls were too dry. Salad roll was ok but smaller than what Iâm used to. For pho go to chemainus pho triple 7 !

It's a large open space with eclectic art on the wall, groovy metallic ceiling tiles, bright diner booth seating, assorted tables and chairs, and has the tropical fish aquarium too. Restaurant appears tidy, clean, with friendly waitress service. But the fish and chips: overcooked = hardened, tough batter with a small fillet inside. Ample previously-frozen chips that are low quality. The rice was old in my fried rice = dry. The house special my friend ordered had meat bits that were also old -- it had that weird after-taste when you keep cooked meat past its time. There is only one server, so there was some waiting to be served and to pay the bill. I wanted to like this place but I can't recommend.

Ordered dinner for delivery to my hotel room. All seemed normal until it arrived and I opened the paper bag.My food was hot and a generous portion, except there was something missing. No soy sauce, no sweet and sour sauce, no plum sauce, no napkins, no cutlery or chopsticks. The quality of food was fine and it would have been SO much better with a little bit of soy for my rice and sweet and sour for my almond chicken.Minimum order of $25 for deliveries.

Having moved to the Island a few years back, I've had a very hard time finding western Chinese food outside of Victoria. The Phoenix is no different than most of the places we've tried between Duncan and Nanaimo. Mushy fried rice, odd pieces of meats which look something more like deli lunch meat instead of chicken. The same, processed, breaded pork for used in everything from sweet and sour pork to honey garlic pork. I've had better Chinese at mall food courts.
