Reviews on Chinese food in Kildare, Province of Leinster, Ireland. Kildare (Irish: Cill Dara, meaning "church of the oak") is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. Its population of 8,412 (2011 Census) makes it the eighth largest town in County Kildare and the 55th largest in the state, with a growth rate of 8% since the 2006 census. Although Kildare gives its name to the county, Naas is the county town. The town lies on the R445, some 50 km (31 mi) west of Dublin – near enough for it to have become, despite being a regional centre in its own right, a commuter town for the capital.

Horrible experience. Chow mein was floating in a slime like substance. No flavour in salt and chilli chicken. Curry was lumpy with a skin on top. Not impressed with staff either. Asked for gravy and was laughed at. Also the water left a chlorinated taste in mouth and left swiftly after this as it made us feel very ill. Will not be returning here whilst on holiday again!
Where to eat European food in Kildare: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Have been to Victoria House many, many times over the years. When it opened first it was an incredible restaurant with great variety, and quality, with fantastic decor. We never got a takeaway because we wanted to keep it special for dining out. It was top notch. It scaled back the menu a lot and survived the recession, which was a great achievement, but it has lost a lot of the quality and attention in its food that made it special to begin with. I would wish for them that they can turn things around because the owners and the staff are really lovely, but it really needs a dynamic spark to light it back up again to have a chance at reclaiming its former greatness.Sadly, we choose to go elsewhere now. The food is bland and non inspiring, totally at odds with the splendid decor and details of the restaurant itself. The sister restaurant in Johnstown is still good.
