Kandy (Sinhalese: මහනුවර Mahanuwara, pronounced [mahanuʋərə]; Tamil: கண்டி, pronounced [ˈkaɳɖi]) is a major city in Sri Lanka located in the Central Province. It was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea. Kandy is both an administrative and religious city and is also the capital of the Central Province. Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world. It was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.

The Last Drop Pub & Restaurant located in the centre of the Kandy city. Restaurant style is from quick service to midscale and upscale. The Pub and restaurant is affiliated to Kandy City Hotel managed by Earl's Court Group and all are welcome to feel the
We went here for the cricket. It was our first night before the masses arrived. We had very good and reasonably priced food and drink. The service was very good even though the food actually comes from the hotel upstairs. The staff were very polite and the air conditioned pub a welcome relief. So why not a 5? Well we went the following day at 8.30pm to be told the place was shut. It was actually full of others eating and drinking and so this was obvioulsy a lie. I dont think we would have been upset if they had just said it was full ( it wasnt) it was just the ' its shut' comment
OakRay Heritage Boutique are designed to reflect a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere. Add to this, a menu you can ponder over for hours and you have everything you need to escape the pressures of daily life.
Pros:Located next to Temple of the holy Tooth. Seating on a beautiful balcony. Very nice staff. Within a nice souvenir shop Oak Ray.Cons:Food was disastrous: pasta was too soft, mushy salads. The charged 1300 Sri Lankan Rupees for veg noodles which way way beyond what you pay around.

This is probably oldest and famous name in Kandy but horrible. Very poor service and average food. They are not clear what is available and whatâs not. If dish ordered by you is not available they will bring something else at their own. You have to very careful to recheck from them what they have understood from your order and what they are bringing. Itâs very important

Xiangyun restaurant is a typical Chinese restaurant. All the dishes are cooked by Chinese chef. You can taste authentic Chinese food here.
Things we liked:-Garlic and ginger greens-garlic ginger beef and chicken-ok selection of dishesThings we thought we âmehâ:-prices are a little high-Chinese style but not authentic. Things we didnât like:-roast duck/chicken was extremely dryYou are unlikely going to find a real, authentic Chinese restaurant in Kandy. We were looking for a change from Sri Lankan food so we were happy to dine here. It was ok but your final bill will be quite high. Itâs definitely way better than other âSri Lankan/Asian/Chineseâ restaurants that claim to make Chinese food. This place comes closest to food that actually resembles and somewhat tastes like actual Chinese food so if you too are looking for mixing it up while you are here you can do a lot worse than here.Would recommend but be warned.

Established in 1982, Flower Drum Restaurants has been pioneering Sri Lanka's oriental cuisine ever since.
I was looking forward to having a meal at Flower Song when in Kandy for the Perahera! We walked from the city center for 10min to get Flower Song. There were just 3 other guests on a Saturday afternoon. Its located now opposite Trinity College. We ordered veg fried rice, sweet and sour fish and veg chop suey. The food was yummy! It took me back to 30yrs ago when we came as children to Flower Song!Great service.

The highlight of our Sri Lankan holiday was the opportunity to be invited into a beautiful Sri Lankan home (with a stunning garden) and be taught step-by-step how to make several traditional dishes. The dishes included Coconut samball, Fish curry, Water cresse and Dhall curry. We even got taught how to get the coconut milk from the fresh coconuts and grind the herbs using a traditional hand press. After the amazing cooking class, we sat outside at a table overlooking the garden to enjoy the fruits of our labour. Every mouthful was delicious. We really appreciate our driver (from D.S tours) suggesting this, as we would never have had the opportunity. The dishes have been easy enough to make back in London as we have been able to source the ingredients really easily. Thanks

White House has now moved to No 42, Dalada Veediya, Kandy. Please look for "Foodlands Restaurant" as we have rebranded with a new look. Foodlands celebrates 26 years of operation in the town Kandy and is part of local food scenario for over 2 decades and
Popped in for impromptu lunch and we quickly escorted upstairs (I think where tourists are meant to eat!). Took the waiters recommendation - we all had Paratha (delicious) and I opted for a prawn curry. It was excellent - both in terms of quality and value. The place is obviously popular with tourists and locals. It is clean and friendly and I would definitely return. If you donât fancy spicy food, try their rice dishes - my sonâs chicken fried rice was really tasty.

We had a nice dinner at this cafe, which feels touristy and yet very welcoming. The place was full tonight around 7PM. The menu is Chinese and western and includes an impressive list of cocktails. The food was good and a small portion just enough for one serving. Friendly staff + the best view over Kandy and the lake that I've seen, as the restaurant is set a bit uphill behind the Temple. Go there after dark for a great view!
