Formosa is an older Chinese restaurant located in a strip mall on Highway 153 in Hixson, TN. (Chattanooga)The atmosphere is dark and dated and could use a renovation. Bathrooms need work as well.But,,,, that's where the criticism ends. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly.The Food,,,, EXCELLENT !My most recent visit I experienced the Mongolian Beef and it was so tender and flavorful it's my favorite dish anywhere. The caramelized onions and peppers complimented the beef perfectly and the fried rice was delicious.All eight in our party were completely satisfied and want to visit again soon.This is a tucked away hidden jewel that you have to try !

We've eaten here several times over the years and generally enjoy their lunch menu which averages around $5.50 and includes your entree and soup. The food is good but I believe if their service improved they would have a lot more business. The server is not really welcoming & is less than enthused. She brings your food and ticket and that's about it. If you want a good lunch at a reasonable price, I think this is a good place to eat.

I enjoyed the buffet, but I think $9.49 was overpriced. The sushi choices are very limited. The food was fresh. I can't say it was more enjoyable than the buffet that is $3 cheaper in our hometown.

This has been our 'go to'.. " not cooking tonight" take out place ever since the place by Publix shut down .It's NOT gourmet Chinese , of course, but is usually VERY reliable and consistent. The owner is quite friendly and takes customer satisfaction seriously.Her husband is the main cook and his sauces are far better than the ' second' cooks.Good value for the quality overall.
