Things to do in Gilroy
We walked in and there was a 'cash only' sign up. 4 employees behind the counter. The people in line ahead of us seemed to be waiting a long time and were at the end of their ropes, so to speak. Only 1 particular employee seemed to be serving all the customers. My husband ordered a teriyaki chicken bowl & this employee told us there were no bowls and no teriyaki chicken. This young lady said it would take 45 minutes to get the teriyaki chicken ready. We ordered something different for my husband & I ordered a Chinese chicken salad. The young lady dished up my husband's food, and ordered the salad (they prepare it fresh in the kitchen). At the register when my husband gave her a $20 Bill (the food totaled approx $17) this same young lady said they were out of change and offered my husband a roll of pennies. After some discussion my husband did all the work & math and was able to get most of his change. This same young lady said she'd keep my husband's food until my salad was ready so we sat down & waited. At least 10 minutes later the young lady (other employees were still just hanging out) asked us if we had our salad yet. We went up to the counter and said no we don't have our food yet, and then she realized she couldn't find my husband's food but had given it to another customer. We reminded her of what my husband ordered (still no salad yet either). She proceeded to dish out the wrong food for my husband's order. My husband told her it was wrong so she had to re-do my husband's food for the third time. All of this while other employees continues to stand around not doing anything useful. This young lady was so incompetent but the other employees had her waiting on every customer and every customer was mad. Finally my salad was ready and we left. Their Chinese chicken salads are very good but do you think we'd go through that again?
...why not offer some vegetarian options? Not only for people who are on a vegetarian diet but for the sake of the taste. Not every dish needs chicken in it. Go for some tofu or be creative with noodles and vegetables. Yes, there are vegetarian side dishes, but no vegetarian entrees, Alas.

My favorites are the sizzling rice soup and wonton soup. Always piping hot and filled with fresh vegetables. The sweet and sour pork, honey walnut prawns, and barbecue pork are also great picks. The restaurant itself needs updating. The owner and staff are very welcoming.

This is really the Great China Garden Chinese Restaurant at 7760 Monterey Road, Gilroy, CAGood, standard Chinese food.We had House Deluxe Won Ton Soup ($7.95 large), Egg Plant in Brown Sauce ($7.75), Moo Shi Pork ($7.95), Coconut Shrimp ($12.25).It was all quite good. The brown sauce was better than at most Chinese restaurants.Décor is pretty simple, but OK.Service was OK. They were busy with take-out and delivery,, so they could have used some more help on the in-restaurant service. The one improvement that is needed is the restrooms need a full remodel. They were clean, but in poor underlying shape. If you're looking for a decent Chinese restaurant with good-sized portions, fair prices, give Great China Garden a try.

Most selections area with noodles and or rice. Their noodle soups are pretty good. The Pad Thai is also delicious, not authentic but goes well with my kids. We like their boba drinks. I love their taro cases and the coffee milk drink. Service is efficient. Value is very good. Place is clean. Their Chili is distinct that I used to take home yet slowed down due to heartburn :_(For quick and cheap eats before or after you shop from the outlets or to stop over to and fro SFO then come and check this place.

With my wife we were in this huge outlet mall and hungry for something else than junk food which we hate!We tried this place, not execting much excepted fewer calories than in the burger places. Food, Vietnamese style, was truly good, cooked in an opened kitchen so you can see it's nicely prepared. When I asked for a lemonade, I saw the manager pressing some fresh limes for me: it was so good I even took some away and my wife did the same with her white coffee she told me was truly special. It's a simple place, no decor but the manager is a truly nice gentleman. And the check is terribly reasonable.I truly recommend the place.

Took my customers,on their recommendation, to the Ginger Cafe with a little trepidation since who would think there is good Chinese food in Gilroy. Well they proved me wrong. Excellent plentiful and flavorful dishes. Soup lacks a little depth of flavor but everything else was very flavorfulThey do use white meat chicken rather than dark meat as traditional Chinese but it was tender
