I spotted this restaurant while traveling south on Route 3 headed for an SCA event. I found it on the way back. It is located at the intersection of Route 3 and Route 424 across Route 3 from the Giant Food Store in the Crofton Princess Shopping Center. Currently, the first entrance to the shopping center is blocked by construction equipment. The Kodo is located on the level facing Route 3. I ordered a couple of sushi rolls at the sushi bar. The food was very good. The rolls had the proper amount of rice, in other words, not mostly rice and a little fish, quite the opposite. Very good. The iced tea was actually oriental tea, not orange pekoe. The restaurant is setup primarily for Habachi but does have a nice sushi bar with a couple of big screen TVs, muted. Service was good and efficient.

The food is absolutely nothing special here. The buffet is cheap enough, but the choices are also very limited. The stuff ordered off the menu is better than the buffet but last time I tried that the portions were significantly smaller than on previous occasions. This restaurant is never crowded, so you never have to wait (they seem to do most of their business as take out).I only give 4 stars because while the food is nothing special, the pricing is appropriately as well. If this place is convenient, it's worth going to, but don't go out of your way for it.
Hunan Express is located in a strip mall along route 3 North in Gambrills next to the Giant. The inside of the restaurant is simple, but nothing out of the ordinary for a Chinese place. The food here is above average Chinese. I've gotten the Kung Pao Chicken and Chicken and Broccoli, as well as Steamed Dumplings here, and all of them are flavored well, and come with more than a large enough portion. The thing that sets Hunan Express apart is the wide selection on the menu. They even have a section that is free of MSG and additives, if that's your thing! Hunan offers online ordering and also offers delivery. The time I utilized the delivery service, it was quick, easy, and painless! Overall, a great option for Chinese in the Gambrills/Crofton area!

Don't let the looks from the outside keep you away. The place is small but the food is excellent. Family owned and run Chinese restaurant. Great service and excellent food. You won't be disappointed and you won't pay to much for the food. Must try and guarantee you will keep coming back.

We ate take out here as our New Year's Eve dinner. We ordered the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce combo which comes with an egg roll and pork fried rice and we ordered a Kung Pao Chicken combo, and some Egg Drop soup. The egg rolls are always fresh, hot and full of veggies, we love them. The soup is always very hot and when we get our food to go, it is always still piping hot when we get home. The shrimp with lobster sauce and the Kung Pao Chicken are always cooked perfectly.Pork Fried rice is so very good!I know we will be back again and again

Correct name is Hunan L'Rose, but I've heard it called Hunan Rose. It's in Odenton Shopping Center and has been there over 20 years
Very serviceable Chinese food. Probably one of the better sit-down Chinese places that I've been to, and their take-out is very good as well. If you do decide to sit-down and eat here, they do serve a variety of beers. Overall, very good, decently priced. You can't go wrong by choosing Hunan L'Rose.
