Walked from daughter home to this small restaurant in a strip mall. What an incredible surprise!!! A good Malbec for 30 bucks was terrific and the portions are quite large. Had a 45 minute wait which was ok as we secured a small table in the bar with two chairs for the 4 of us. Brown rice, Thai green beans were yummy.
This was my third visit to Lim's Star. I've eaten in once and carried out food twice. The place is not easy to rate or describe because the exterior is rather offputting, the vestibule and interior door seem old and dirty, and yet the dining area is spacious and comfortable...well appointed but somewhat dated. It is dark inside and yet the sit-down service is very good. On my three visits to the restaurant there are very few people there, and yet friends tell me that they've been there when the place was packed. I went most recently at 8 o'clock on a Saturday night and there was nobody in the restaurant. They do seem to do a swift carry out business however. I had Gai Kow and my friend had sweet-and-sour pork. Both of the portions were huge and both were quite good. Would I say exceptional? No, but quite good. They certainly beat the Chinese restaurant that's up the street in Farmington Hills whose name I can't remember but whose food is very ordinary in my opinion. If they put some shrubs out front and cleaned the doors and vestibule it would make for a much more attractive restaurant. I think these factors detract from people visiting them and it's too bad because we liked our dinners and will be back.

House of Lee is good Chinese for a fair price. The sweet and sour is my favorite. If MSG is a problem for you, make sure to tell them not to use it. You can feed 4-5 people for $40 easy and have leftovers.

Round table with a lazy susan and many delicious entrees make this a great place to share food! Fun tasting many offerings. Friendly. Helpful staff. Delicious food at reasonable prices. Beautifully decorated with s nice lovely atmosphere. Not to loud to converse. A great evening!

Our standby Chinese has gotten dreary and sad. We tried another nearby, Rainbow, and they were rude to us. After getting an ad, we tried Beijing Garden and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I don't eat meat, only seafood, and they actually had shrimp egg rolls, which were very good. All soups are vegetarian, too. The food was great, plentiful....we got two meals out of one order, with soup and egg rolls, and the service was great. The young man waiting on us was very friendly and helpful, and quite interesting. We'll be back!

We came here for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon and the place was fairly empty. We started off with a soft shell crab appetizer which was excellent, although not served traditionally as the whole crab but in pieces. My wife had the wonton soup which was excellent. For entrees I had braised bean curd (tofu) with veggies which was quite good and my wife had shrimp and chicken Lo Mein which, sad to say, was 80% chicken and 20% shrimp. It was rather boring. Naively, we were expecting a 50-50 mixture. All the dishes were served piping hot which is a big plus for me.

Average. Upgrade to shrimp fried rice did not seem worth it; rice was dry and relatively bland. Egg rolls placed in carton with food, unlike some other places that put them in a separate bag; this caused all our egg rolls to be soggy. Even fortune cookies were somewhat flavorless compared to our more frequent takeout place. Szechuan chicken was decent but the brown sauce seemed generic. The Detroit area is sadly lacking in quality Chinese restaurants like can be found in other big metropolitan areas. They are largely mediocre with lower quality ingredients. We would gladly pay more for fresh and tasty flavor.
