Where to eat Chinese food in Everett: The Best Restaurants and Bars

August 31, 2020 Phylicia Berquist

Reviews on Chinese food in Everett, Washington, United States. Birthplace of Boeing airplanes, Everett is a lively coastal city just north of Seattle. Its waterfront, once a highly industrialized area home to a naval base and large paper mill, has recently undergone a transformative redevelopment as a locale for seaside shopping, dining and festivities. The city's numerous parks, boasting free live concerts every summer, are excellent for hiking or relaxing, while the coast is a popular spot for sailing, water sports and whale watching excursions.

King Noodle House

The food is good enough but the service is slow slow slow.We ordered standard noodle items from the menu. Forty minutes after we ordered we inquired when our food would arrive. The staff brushed us off. Ten minutes later I asked again, asking if we should try a different restaurant instead. The answer was noncommital. Finally 54 minutes after we ordered the food began arriving. The last person's food (there were five of us) arrived 59 minutes after we ordered.Making it worse, no one apologized or seemed concerned at any time during our time there, including at the end when we paid the bill. Maybe waiting almost an hour for food was not unusual there. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy. The food wasn't worth the wait. We'll never go there again.

Ming Dynasty

I visited towards the tail end of their lunchtime on a weekend. When I arrived, there was one customer and one of the owners in this small restaurant that, as I recall, has about 16 tables. They have interesting table setups in that two booths seating four are adjacent to each other, no wall, which would facilitate small group meetings fairly well, so long as any other patrons weren't noisy. For my visit, no such issue, thus it was quiet. They have a good lunchtime special, which I thought was $7.95, and I ordered lemon chicken; I got charged $1 more for something, I didn't find out what (as the owner left the vicinity after I paid my bill. I think it was the soup, as they were out of their standard, they only had the kind that was $1 more, they just didn't tell me that there was an extra charge. That's not a good practice IMO: if they're out and have to substitute something that costs more, the customer shouldn't pay the extra. My meal was delivered in reasonable time, was enough to satisfy my hunger, and the quality was slightly above average. The other customer left part-way through my meal, so it was very private.

Janbo Cafe

For Everett, and as an alternative to driving to Seattle's International District, this Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant is an excellent choice. The Janbo Cafe is a smallish restaurant but bright and clean for on-site dining. While we were there, it was clear that they also had an active take-out clientele. We ordered Vegetable Deluxe, Chow Fun with Pork, Almond Chicken and Beef Brisket Pho. The large bowl of pho was excellent, and although the Chinese dishes were also very good, the sauces used for the chow fun and chicken dishes made them taste too much the same. Next time, we will consider ordering more of a variety of foods. The owner was our waitperson and could not have been nicer. Dessert was a HUGE homemade cream puff for each of us, was a surprise and was complimentary! Don't confuse the Janbo Cafe with the Chinese restaurant of the same name and also in Everett which has some terrible reviews.

We were visiting family in Everett and they highly recommended this restaurant for a quick, yummy meal. When we first arrived to order at the counter, we were each given (what I later found out was) a complimentary gyoza. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and my DH had the chicken katsu. The teriyaki was some of the best I've had and while we've neither heard of nor tasted Katsu before, my husband said it was delicious as was the sauce it came with. I also enjoyed the side salad but I don't know what the dressing was, good, just don't know what it was. Very good and would love to go back if we're in the area again.
