Reviews on Chinese food in Danbury, Connecticut, United States. The strangers on Alfred Hitchcock's most famous train began their journey at Danbury, Connecticut's main station, along with thousands of other travelers over time. Now converted into the Danbury Railway Museum, the station and yards are open to visitors, with a collection of historic railroad cars and equipment. Just a few miles outside of the city's pretty historic center is Bear Mountain Reservation, a quiet forest parkland with hiking trails overlooking the calm waters of Candlewood Lake.

A friend and I stopped in for lunch by chance and were pleasantly surprised by the cuisine which includes Chinese, Japanese and Thai food. We both had Bento boxes and the food was delicious. The shrimp was excellent and the Shumai was the best I had ever had. It was light and very flavorful. The cost of the lunch was very reasonable and the setting is very pleasant. I will be back for dinner.

We spent the night at the Holiday Inn on Old Mill Road in Danbury, Ct. Within a very short walk was the Panda House Restaurant. The atmosphere was wonderful, quiet, and the service superb. The food was some of the best Asian cuisine weâve ever eaten. The tab was very reasonable.

While you may struggle to find American Chinese dishes on any menu in China, if you consider "American Chinese" as a genre all of its own, then you don't have to worry about authenticity - just enjoy! And that is exactly what I do with Kai's Place. Quite simply this is one of the very best examples of American Chinese take-out that you will find (and although there are a few tables if you want to dine-in, this is predominantly a take-out operation). The kitchen is totally open behind the counter and it is really nice to watch the hard work that goes on constantly to turn out really nice freshly-cooked dishes. One of the most impressive things about Kai's Place is the service. Always smiling, personable, and often including a free sampler of something else on the menu. Great marketing because in my case it has introduced me to a couple of things I wouldn't have otherwise tried and now I often include them in my order. As a measure of how much I like Kai's Place, I pass four other Chinese take-outs on my drive from my home to Kai's. Generally I phone in my order and only on one occasion (a Saturday night) were they so busy that they miscalculated with the readiness of the order (and that was only by 10 minutes). Usually they are spot on with their timing. During that one wait, by the way, I was mightily impressed with just how hard everyone was working to clear the backlog and at the same time, manage new orders coming through. Huge portions - as typical and expected, only in America - and incredible value IMHO. Highly recommended for good honest food and great service.
