It is the capital of the Cochabamba Department and is the fourth largest city in Bolivia, with a population of 630,587 according to the 2012 Bolivian census. Its name is from a compound of the Quechua words qucha, meaning "lake", and pampa, "open plain". Residents of the city and surrounding areas are commonly referred to as cochalas, or, more formally, cochabambinos.

We went to the restaurant looking for something different in Cochabamba. It was a Wednesday night about 8:00 and we were the only table. One of the other couple was a local and had been before. We all are equipped with Spanish, and we all struggled with the menu. None of us could find tuna on the menu, because there was none. We were told "only Friday and Saturday". There were 2 for 1 items, some of which we ordered, and as a result, we had more than enough to eat. The sushi was "okay" and the service was very good.

We ended up in the Lai Lai on Christmas evening, because few places were open that evening. Although it was very hectical, with a lot of take-away orders, serving was good and we did not have to wait very long for our food (taken into account the huge amount take-away orders). They served decent food, portions were OK. We just ordered something from the menu, and to our surprise rice was not included, so don't forget to order an extra portion of rice. The price was reasonable and overall I would recommend this restaurant.

Chifa Chen is a nice place, with the best chinese food in town. Come to visit us!

Our host mom recommended Chifa Chen to us because it is her family's favorite restaurant at which to get Chinese food. The cute spot had good service and great food. Seemed authentic. There was a decent beer selection, too, with some great German beer.
