Find out what Chinese restaurants to try in Bumpass. Bumpass is an unincorporated community in Louisa County, Virginia, United States. Its post office is still in service. National Historical Places registered in Bumpass include the Duke House and Jerdone Castle. The latter is a plantation (now lakefront) where George Washington spent the night on June 10 during his 1791 Southern tour.

I checked my numbers before writing this review, because I do not like writing bad reviews. Over the years, I've done 343 restaurant reviews on Trip Advisor..... and less than 10 have been 1 star. Most of those reviews were because of a service issue, but this one is because of the food. Both my wife and I had the hot and sour soup, which was neither hot nor sour. It wasn't very tasty at all, and oddly thick. I had an egg roll and she had a spring roll. You could actually see burn marks on the bottom of both of them, like they had been heated in a pan after having been fried. I had the chicken egg foo young and my wife the hunan chicken. I'll admit I've never had egg foo young, so maybe this is what it's supposed to be. But it was like a couple of egg omelettes piled on a plate, completely covered (and I mean completely covered, as in literally falling off the side of the plate) with a light brown gravy....like you might see for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I actually like all those things, but it just didn't work in this case. Nothing seemed to be seasoned. As for my wife's hunan chicken, it looked really good when it came out. But the chicken was so salty, she couldn't eat it. I tried it and she was right, it was pretty bad. As for positives, the sides of fried rice that we got with the entrees weren't bad. I have never gone to a Chinese restaurant and not left with a couple take out boxes of leftovers, because they always give you way too much food. But when the server came over and asked if we needed boxes, we both said "no thanks".

Several years ago, this used to be the best chinese in town, we would drive 25 minutes to eat here - we moved out to the area about 3 years ago and over the past year, its gone way down hill. We've given them atleast 6-7 chances over the past year and now refuse to ever order from them again. Over the last year, everytime we got takeout, the food tasted stale, like it was cooked the day before, the soup tasted like dishwater and the meat was gewy, I ended up throwing the food out the last 2 times. Its a shame as it used to be soooo good, not sure if a new owner or cook has taken over but Im obviously not the only one who feels this way, go by on a friday or saturday night, the parking lot is vacant where it used to be packed on the wknds...

They make a really good menu...it's got all of the staples. We enjoy it enough to eat here a few times a month. The staff is always pleasant. They have great options, too. The food is cooked in front of you basically...and it doesn't take very long. They can make things spicy if you'd like - or can reduce/eliminate the spice, too!

Read their citations on the VA Dept. of Health website. Paltry selection at lunch buffet and much of it not "home made". Cookies from a package, lots of noodles and very little meats or vegetables. Food lacked flavor. I was part of a large group otherwise I would have left.

The lunch buffet is fantastic! There is a wide variety of freshly made oriental foods on the buffet. They also have a wide range of choices off of the menu. I've never had a bad menu here and most selections have been very good.
