Things to do in Braintree
A great restaurant in Great Notley tucked away between the bridge and the Co-Op.
Popped in at random and picked up some great food there - chicken and cashew nuts is sublime served by attentive staff. Will return soon. Cheers.

We'd always had our takeaways from here ever since we moved to Braintree over 17 years ago. Last year though my daughter was very ill after having a chicken dish. My husband and I hadn't had the same as her and we were both fine.Unfortunately we've had to change takeaways.
China Village Chinese Takeaway, in Fairfield Road, Braintree, provides an excellent choice of Cantonese food, all cooked to perfection by it's skilled owners and chefs. The owners and counter staff are very welcoming and friendly, and to date, all of the food I've ordered from this establishment has been of the highest standard. Food orders can be collected, but their delivery service is prompt and efficient. Thoroughly recommended.

Nine, hungry, people ordered a delivery for 7.30. It was late by two minutes, lol. Seriously good, hot, Chinese which seemed to disappear very quickly from the table. The meal was ordered online through BigFoodie on Masefields website with no delivery charge. Ordering through JustEat gets a delivery charge of £1.00 yet it's the same address.

Picked this one to try after reading reviews for various Chinese takeaways in Braintree. Well the crispy duck was a decent sized portion and was crispy, as were the spring rolls but the hoi sin was really salty (even for a takeaway!), and the chicken in yellow bean was bland and the sauce looked more like a light brown gravy. Fried rice was a bit greasy too, so i think weâll try somewhere else next time Iâm sorry to say.

Have not been here for about a year but out most recent take away will be our last, sweet and sour chicken was so greasy there was oil dripping out of them as you held them, I had one of the large pancake rolls which are normally great but this one had very little taste and was equally greasy, yes I know they are fried but these were literally dripping in fat.Chips were obviously twice or three times fried as they had dried out so whilst they were crispy chips the inside was very dry and powdery.Thank you for your comment we will take that on board and make improvement. Sorry that you were not satisfy with your food. Unfortunately deep fried food are greasy but it shouldn't be dripping in oil. So we will be looking into that. With regards to the pancake roll been tasteless, it difficult to satisfy everyone taste bud. We had some customer saying it too salty. We only cook our chip once when the order is placed. Most of our customers like it crispy. We hope this is not your last takeaway, just avoid deep fried food.

Authentic Peking & Cantonese Chinese cuisine to take away.
This used to be our go to place for a take away as although they donât deliver, it is only down the road. However after a couple of so so orders AND the fact that they started only taking cash we changed to a place that delivered.Decided to give it a go again recently and have to say, all the food was great. Fresh, tasty and still warm when we got it home. Did not feel I could warrant a 5 because you still can only pay cash and a takeaway that does not deliver is not ideal. But the food itself on this occasion was great! Thank you for your reviews and thanks for giving us another try. I hope you will understand we are a small business and find hard to cater cards and do delivery. With delivery it hard to manage and employ drivers. In the past we have try to do delivery but drivers are hard to find and wage are expensive. Thank you for your support giving small business a chance to survive in this competitive market.

Where do i start, other than saying it was the worst experience ive ever had at a chinese restaurant.Upon entering to see that the restaurant wasnt very busy which made me very uneasy. We sat down upon being shown to our table, as normal we were given a drinks menu and we chose our drinks and they were served promptly. However, the wait for more service was 15 mins, considering how quiet it was, i was dissapointed at this waiting time. The starters arrived, very quickly but the waiter may as well have thrown them on our table which made me very uncomfortable, the food was very underwhelming, as id heard good things about this restaurant. We then waited 15 minutes for our mains. My chow mein arrived, i had asked for it to be well done and was shocked at the outcome, it was like theyd "nuked" it and thrown it on a plate, and thrown the raw vegatables on afterwards. In conclusion, i had high expectations but it didnt live up to the hype. I am very shocked at all the good reviews on this restaurant as they clearly didn't eat at the same place that i did.The people writing these reviews have obviously never eaten in a good chinese restaraunt before. Will not be returning

Having used this restaurant for take-away food in the past, was very disappointed with the food received last night. We ordered 11 dishes, basically only 3 were good, which was the rice, Lemon Chicken and seaweed, not much to get wrong there! The miniature (x10) vegetable spring rolls were limp and came with no dipping sauce!Beef curry was average, squid Thai red curry, not nearly enough squidPork Ribs, virtually inedible, had been warm for hours I suspect and were dry and hard.Mushroom chow mein disappointing, again not enough content of main ingredient, mushrooms! Spicy Salt & Chilli chicken, and sweet and sour chicken was okWe will not be back anytime soon, which is a shame, as previously had good experience both in house and take away

Eleven of us dined here for my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary for the lunch buffet. Every dish was freshly cooked, the food was absolutely beautiful and the service second to none. Really made the celebration one to remember. Will definitely be returning and highly recommend.
