Bagan (Burmese: ပုဂံ; MLCTS: pu.gam, IPA: [bəɡàɴ]; formerly Pagan) is an ancient city located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. From the 9th to 13th centuries, the city was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom, the first kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar. During the kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of over 2,200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day.

Strange that reviews for this gem of a restaurant are so mixed. If you are in Bagan and want local food (assuming you're not ignorant enough to ask for Western food in a country that knows nothing about it, and assuming you like to experience the food of Myanmar), this place is great. Ever since our first visit a year ago, I've been wanting to come back to this place. And yes, we came back to Bagan and came back to this place in New Bagan. Four of us ordered 14 freshly squeezed juices, and 4 or 5 dishes. Everything was delicious and staff tried very hard to please us, given their almost non-existent English. The bill- 60k kyat. Very reasonable for a town where restaurants geared towards Western tourists will charge 1.5 - 3 times as much for the same local fare. This is a local spot, out of the way of tourist flow. Dear Filipp V,Thank you for such a lovely review on TripAdvisor. We are pleased to read that you enjoyed your food and for come second visit by remembering to our restaurant.Thank you very much indeed.

The "7 Sisters Restaurant" is a beautiful, romantic open air restaurant, where you can enjoy a wide array of Myanmar, Chinese, Thai and European dishes. A place where the flavours of Asia blend with refinement and delicacy. As the name suggests, it's an i
Ended up here on a Tuk Tuk driver recommendation and ended up going back twice. Food was always tasty and portions huge. The sisters are so friendly and provide a fantastic service.

...this lovely place is a haven. The minute you sit down the server brings peanuts and cool drinking water (unique among the areaâs restaurants, as far as I know), and makes you feel relaxed and welcome. The menu is extensive, the prices are quite reasonableâespecially given the quality of the food, which is fresh, hot, and much less oily than nearby places. Iâll be back!

We had a good experience eating at Elodie. The food is tasty, delicate and you can be sure that products are qualitative. The service is very good with friendly staff. Maybe the portions could be larger but we wouldnât want quantity instead of quality so thatâs fine! Excellent beaf with basil leaf.

Confort Restaurant is a cosy place near to Shwezigon Pagoda. We are open during all the day for welcoming you and serving you different kind of meal.
This place is a small mom and pops restaurant serving several different types of cuisine. We tried a few dishes and were not impressed at all. In fact it made us immediately question how they attained the top restaurant ranking in Bagan at 5 stars nonetheless. It is evidently a farce. The place isn't terrible. The food is "meh". The location is "meh". The people seemed REALLY nice. But we're the type that would rather have the owner hate us and the food be GREAT than to have GREAT people and forgettable food. So no this place IS NOT 5 stars. IT IS NOT the best restaurant in Bagan. It is simply a "greasy spoon" "hole in the wall" with great staff and ok food. Average at best. I suspect somewhere somehow is fibbing in these reviews and for that and (trusting TA blindly) we wasted a meal.
